Cisco To Rival Polycom Alliance With Home Video Conferencing

7 January 2010
Just a day after Polycom presented a range of video conferencing products for homes, Cisco Systems has taken the wrappers off from its own home video-conferencing equipment.
The company has used the CES stage in Las Vegas to announce that it is extending its Telepresence capabilities to make the technology suitable for residential purposes.
Laying the roadmap for rolling out the technology, the company noted that it will kick off the US trials of the technology in conjunction with Verizon Wireless in this spring, while France trials in collaboration with France Telecom are slated for end of this year.
