At Mobile World Congress, Polycom, one of leaders in UC, and Ericsson, one of leading providers of technology and services to telecom operators, announced that two companies plan launching an end-to-end solution that empowers operators to offer interoperable HD Video-as-a-Service (VaaS) and UC services to businesses of all sizes.
The solution was demonstrated at the Ericsson and Polycom stands. As both companies stated, the solution “will be jointly taken to market globally, with Ericsson serving as prime system integrator for all of the infrastructure components.”
This visual communication solution will use Ericsson’s comprehensive video-enabled IP Multimedia Subsystem offering with HD-capable infrastructure, and Polycom RealPresence video and voice endpoints as well as Polycom RealPresence Platform, the software infrastructure for universal video collaboration.
The new solution “will enable operators to enter or expand their operations with compelling new VaaS offerings across devices, with high reliability and scalability.”
According to officials, the new offering will incorporate Ericsson’s solution for UC, the Ericsson Business Communication Suite, guaranteeing that “operators will be able to penetrate new markets, increase revenue per subscriber, and effectively compete.”
