As 2009 comes to a close, companies in the communications technology space are gearing up for a bigger, brighter New Year. Hampered by the global economic downturn, many businesses adopted new IT solutions, such as telepresence, HD Voice and videoconferencing, to save money and maintain their productivity.
“It was a challenging year, but one in which we were able to organize a number of strategic initiatives and get some things done,” Bob Hagerty, CEO, Polycom, Inc, told in an interview. “Many customers used this as an opportunity to invest in technology that would help reduce long-term operational costs by reducing the need to travel.”
But the company is looking to 2010 with vigor. During the interview, Hagerty predicted that the use of video conferencing would “explode” over the next few years as the quality of HD Voice and video improves and the economy improves.
