D-Link Honored for Innovation by Consumer Electronics Association
4 January 2010
LAS VEGAS, CES Booth 36232, LVCC, Jan 04, 2010 - Four new products from D-Link, the end-to-end computer networking solutions provider for consumers and business, have won the coveted Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Innovations Award. One of them -- the Boxee Box by D-Link -- was named "Best of Innovations" in the home theater category.
All four winning products will be center stage during the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held Jan. 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and will be showcased in the LVCC Grand Lobby as well as in D-Link's Booth 36232 in LVCC's South Hall 4.
The CEA Innovation Award honorees are chosen by a panel of independent engineers, product designers and industry trade press editors who judge the entries on engineering and design qualities, unique features, user value, contributions to consumers' quality of life and the impact on the manufacturer's business.
This year's winning entries are:
The Boxee Box™ by D-Link® takes traditional media players one step further by allowing users to quickly access Boxee's huge pre-selected library of Internet content, including the most popular websites, and navigate the easy-to-read menu via remote control for playback on their home entertainment center HDTV or stereo. Users can enjoy digital TV shows, movies, photos and music regardless of whether they're stored locally on a user's hard drive/home network or online at websites like CBS, Showtime, Pandora and Flickr. And they can share what they are watching or listening to with other Boxee users on social networks like Twitter and Facebook. With 802.11n Wi-Fi technology, the Boxee Box by D-Link can transfer even the largest files without delay and from longer distances.
The D-Link® Pebble™ is also innovative because no other media player of its size, style and price offers the full home networking capabilities that consumers need to turn their living rooms into complete multimedia entertainment centers. It can stream data from wherever it is stored -- in USB thumbdrives, or Flash memory cards, in network storage (NAS) devices, PCs or on the Internet – with the ability to take advantage of the latest 802.11n wireless technology.
The D-Link® Home Monitoring Starter Kit is an affordable, easy-to-use and very innovative "Connected Home Monitor" system that provides homeowners and renters with new levels of security for their property and loved ones. Designed for quick and easy installation by the user, the system connects via broadband router in the home, and can then be remotely monitored and controlled through a personalized web portal account at www.mydlink.com. Alerts from wireless sensors around the home are instantly relayed by text, email, iPhone and voice-call to the consumer and their designated contacts.
The D-Link® Home Energy Monitoring Starter Kit is one of the first products that allows consumers to measure energy consumption of electrical appliances in the home, making it the ultimate smart energy "Green Machine." It actually changes the way homeowners or renters deal with the age-old challenge of how to keep their home energy consumption to a minimum. It also provides practical tools for power management. When linked to the Home Monitoring Starter kit, consumers can use D-Link's mydlink.com portal to program devices to power-down when the home is empty, helping reduce carbon emissions and lower utility bills by saving electricity.
