D-Link And Sharedband Partner To Deliver Faster, Reliable Broadband
| |
10 November 2009
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Nov 10, 2009 - D-Link, a leading solutions provider of computer networking equipment for business and consumers, today announced a partnership agreement with Sharedband Technologies, LLC, of Seattle to distribute and market its innovative software to its North American business customers.
The Sharedband solution allows multiple broadband lines to be combined into a single, virtual broadband connection. It is designed to deliver faster upstream and downstream speeds while offering transparent failover in the event of an outage.
Sharedband's software will become part of D-Link's newest routers that are scheduled to start shipping in the first quarter of next year.
"D-Link is currently focused on helping customers store and distribute data within an office environment at greater speeds," said Will Brown, associate vice president of North American Sales, Service Provider Business Unit. "With today's announcement, we are extending that reach to helping businesses improve connectivity between the office and the Internet. D-Link's approach of partnering with innovative companies such as Sharedband is an ongoing trend to deliver timely solutions to real world problems."
Paul Evans, chief executive officer and founder of Sharedband, added:
"We are delighted to be working closely with one of the leading small-to-medium business (SMB) and enterprise networking vendors. With most broadband connections being considerably slower upstream than downstream, this asymmetry is increasingly becoming a bottleneck for businesses. Coupled with the rapid growth of VoIP, hosted applications/cloud services, off-site data backup and VPN usage, this problem will only worsen. In addition many businesses are becoming wholly reliant on their broadband connections so the ability to transparently combine low-cost broadband lines from diverse suppliers using D-Link equipment is an attractive option."
