20 May 2009
SAO PAULO, BRAZIL and TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 20, 2009) - Shopnetworks and Sangoma(R) Technologies Corporation (TSX VENTURE:STC) today announced their distribution agreement for the Brazilian market. Shopnetworks will increase the number of resellers, system integrators, and solution providers with access to Sangoma telecom products in Brazil. Armed with Sangoma's voice cards, SIP gateways, SS7 software and call progress analysis software in their portfolio, Shopnetworks plans to target PBX resellers, contact center and carrier system integrators.
"Sangoma brings unique value to resellers, integrators, and solution partners in Brazil, with its strong support of local network technologies as well as outstanding price/performance points," said Flavio Eduardo de Andrade, General Manager of Shopnetworks. "We also like the fact that Sangoma's focus is on building great connectivity hardware and software products, not in creating applications that compete with our solution partners, like others in the industry."
As a long-time developer for, widely used Latin American telephony protocol stacks, including stacks for MFC/R2, Sangoma has unmatched support capabilities for relevant telephony protocols in Brazil, Protocol stacks enable applications to interface with a local network or telephony equipment, and these protocols vary from country to country. Sangoma was the key sponsor for the development OpenR2, an open source MFC/R2 protocol stack now used within the Asterisk open source telephony platform. Subsequently, Sangoma hired the lead developer of this project, Moises Silva.
"Brazil is a key market for Sangoma's telecom products," said Serge Forest, vice president of marketing at Sangoma. "Our long time leadership in the development of LATA telephony protocols, and now the addition of Shopnetworks as a key distributor, position us very well for solid growth in Brazil."
Shopnetworks will complement product sales with training and support services, providing a single point of contact to solution vendors in Brazil.
