 NTT Communications Partners with Asia-Pacific Providers to Build 40 Gbps Submarine Cable

NTT Communications is partnering with Philippines Long Distance Telephone Company, StarHub and Telekom Malaysia, Asia-Pacific-based service providers, for building $430 million Asia Submarine Express submarine cable system.
Expected to be finished in June 2012, new 40 Gbps submarine cable system would connect Japan with Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines and Malaysia. It is planned that the cable initially will support 40 Gbps, but in the future it can support 100 Gbps network requirements.
NTT and partners will build a separate route in December 2011, and connections to Mainland China and Southeast Asian countries are planned to be launched in cooperation with leading carriers in markets.
