ViaSat Inc. has signed a contract with Asia Broadcast Satellite concerning providing Ka-band satellite IP transit service to major areas of the Middle East region deploying the ABS-7 satellite.
ViaSat provides innovative digital communication products enabling secure and efficient communications to any location. ViaSat offers networking products and network services for enterprise IP transit apps; the company is a supplier of encryption technologies and network-centric military communications to the US and allied governments.
ABS-7 (ex-Koreasat-3) offers 600 MHz of Ka-band capacity necessary for IP transit and mobile broadband services, VSAT services, cellular backhaul and US/NATO government demands in the Middle East.
ViaSat’s officials commented that the bandwidth is expected to be deployed for IP transit satellite services as a constituent part of the company’s continuing promotion of its Yonder mobile satellite network. The Yonder mobile broadband service represents one of ViaSat's fastest growing sectors.
