Telmex Is Expanding Fiber to the Home to additional 40 cities in Mexico
12 May 2011
Telmex undertake a one more step to expand the company’s Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network service to additional 40 cities this year.
The service is now available at 1,000 homes; but Telmex plans to broaden the service in the markets to compete with Grupo Iusacell that has launched Totalplay FTTH service.
Iusacell's Totalplay provides consumers with 100 Mbps speeds via company’s FTTH network.
Bloomberg has recently published a report from an unnamed source that Telmex will leverage Alcatel-Lucent PON gear in order to build a new FTTH network providing three speed possibilities: 10, 20 and 50 Mbps.
