Since 2008, telcos, cable and wireless operators have totally spent $250 billion in order to expand wireline and mobile broadband availability to customers in the US.
Three main telecom associations (the US Telecom Association, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and CTIA) have recently released a report concerning telecom industry: the $250 billion figure is just a part of data released.
Industry experts predict that service providers can spend about $60 million on promoting and widening broadband services this year.
Some investments will be complemented with broadband grants that several large companies have received this year.
As for the detailed differentiation by sectors, wireless providers spent $71 billion, wireline service providers spent $89 billion, while cable operators spent $40 billion.
