Cisco, the leading networking company, stated on Thursday that it has completed its acquisition of ExtendMedia, a company-provider of a software-based Content Management Systems (CMS) that control the entire lifecycle of video content.

All the financial details of the acquisition are kept in secret.

Company's officials say that ExtendMedia enables Cisco to assist service providers deliver multi-screen offerings as the market transitions to IP video.

The new deal brings to Cisco a software team that understands the complexities of delivering multi-screen video over IP networks. ExtendMediaaEUR(TM)s CMS software, which will integrate with CiscoaEUR(TM)s current IP video offerings, will be a key component of the company aEUR(TM)s next-generation video architecture.

Two companies together are expected to enable service providers to deploy a next-generation, end-to-end video architecture that delivers the best consumer experience with access to any content, over any network, on any device.

The majority of the ExtendMedia team becomes part of CiscoaEUR(TM)s Service Provider Video Technology Group, while its Sales and Professional Services teams join the Cisco Sales and Advanced Services organizations.
