Telecom Egypt and MVNO license

Egypt's revolution has not reduced Telecom Egypt's plans to move further into mobile phone services; the company set a purpose to secure a mobile virtual network license by the end of the year.
The mainly state-owned landline company-monopoly relies on data services to offset reduced fixed-line income and intends to establish a mobile operation in order to increase longer-term growth perspectives.
Telecom Egypt has a 45% share in Vodafone's Egyptian mobile venture but without management control.
According to the company’s officials, the goal is to transform the 80% state-owned company to a "total telecom service provider".
Mobinil and Vodafone Egypt dominate on Egyptian mobile market, followed by Etisalat Misr.
A year ago Telecom Egypt offered to purchase Vodafone's 55% share in Vodafone Egypt but companies didn’t agree on a price.
