WVT Will Acquire Alteva WVT Will Acquire AltevaWVT Will Acquire Alteva

30 July 2011

Alteva, a competitive provider of hosted VoIP and UC services, has officially stated that the company had signed an agreement about acquisition of the company by Warwick Valley Telephone Company (WVT), an ILEC based in New York.
This acquisition is expected to be completed in the Q3 2011, and after the completion Alteva is expected to integrate company’s operations with WVT's CLEC businesss unit - USA Datanet.
According to Alteva's officials, the agreement represents a kind of "reverse acquisition," where the executive teams of two companies will be integrated and run together the merged operation. Alteva was not much successful with going 'down-market': the company is effective in the 50-user space and more. So, one of the advantages of having USA Datanet is that the products suite compels—the 25, 35, 50 user space and less. Therefore, the combined entity will be able to compete in a multitude of markets.
According to WVT officials, the company can strengthen CLEC platform, leverage legacy ILEC business in order to improve competitive position as well as enhance financial performance through scaling and growing overall operations.
