Nokia Siemens Networks, a telecoms services enabler, has recently announced that Cable Bahamas, a cable and broadband service provider, had selected company’s voice over cable (VoC) softswitch platform in order to provide high-quality IP telephony service via cable networks.
Both companies did not disclose any financial details of the agreement.
According to the company’s officials, it is expected to provide its hiQ 8000 softswitch platform that serves as a foundation for high-quality voice services, empowers Cable Bahamas to scale deployment of next generation apps.
This platform allows operators locating network nodes in the more optimized way and use geographic redundancy to guarantee uninterrupted service by using softswitches in Nassau and Freeport.
Cable Bahamas plans launching company’s fixed line voice service this month.
