SES and Gilat Satellite Networks announced that forming partnership for the delivery of network equipment, Ka-band end-user terminals for ASTRA2Connect.
With deployment of Gilat’s Ka-band platform, officials of SES expect to provide much faster Internet and VoIP services to small businesses and private households across Europe.
At the present SES serves over 80,000 ASTRA2Connect end-users; and as the company’s officials say, it operates the largest satellite-based broadband network across Europe.
The company’s strategy includes the deployment of Ka-band end-user terminals that support download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s, taking ASTRA2Connect service already to the next level.
From Q4 2012, SES plans to increase the performance of the company’s ASTRA2Connect service through deploying additional multiple spot beam Ka-band capacity onboard ASTRA 2F, 2E and 2G spacecraft that is expected to be released between 2012 and 2014.
