Nuance Communications has officially announced the acquisition of Loquendo, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Telecom Italia.
The acquisition will advance companies’ the proliferation of voice-empowered solutions. Moreover, it can quicken the development of new capabilities in order to deliver natural interactions.
Loquendo offers a suite of speech technologies for telephony, automotive, mobile, embedded and desktop solutions in numerous languages. Loquendo’s TTS, ASR and voice biometrics solutions enable people to interact with technology using voice.
Speech solutions from Loquendo are used in over 20 million devices across the world.
The new united company will provide a wide portfolio of voice and language solutions such as TTS, ASR as well as voice biometrics solutions.
The acquisition also improves language coverage for embedded and network-based customers and enhances Nuance’s channel partnerships.
The acquisition is expected to be closed in late September 2011.
