Intermedia, a hosted exchange provider, has announced that the company had added Microsoft Lync, an interface uniting IM, voice communications and conferencing, as part of company’s Office in the Cloud offering.
Lync is available as a stand-alone service, for Mac and for resale by Intermedia’s partners; Lync represents the latest innovation from the Exchange hosting company to stand out in the market.
This announcement came soon after Intermedia has added Office 365 to its offerings.
Using Intermedia’s HostPilot Control Panel that transfers technical administration to non-technical staff, users now can manage Lync as well as other Intermedia cloud services.
Lync represents a next-generation tool used by organizations with several offices and remote employees; the solution integrates collaboration tools such as Web conferencing, IM, voice and video chat, as well as the ability to share white board sessions from a PC.
Moreover, Lync also provides rich presence capabilities to display which colleagues are available to chat; file transfer; group chat; desktop and application sharing; conversation history and the ability to join and schedule online meetings from Outlook.
