Verizon Communications Is Preparing Broader Rollout of Home Monitoring Service
| |
4 October 2011
Reportedly, Verizon Communications is preparing the announcement of a broader rollout of company’s home monitoring and control service that can be priced at $9.95 per month.
Light Reading reported that the official announcement could be on October 11. It would be about 10 months after Verizon primed the market for the service by claiming trial plans and a connected home strategy last January.
Verizon has been paying attention to the growing home monitoring services sector for over two years. Moreover, the company made an investment in 4Home, a home automation company, in 2010.
Verizon’s new service can be based on 4Home's Z-wave wireless technology that allows up to 200 modules and devices throughout a home being connected to the network via a Z-wave gateway. Client modules and the gateway will be sold separately, reportedly in cost from $69.99 to $219.99.
