17 October 2011

Megacable, a Mexican cable operator, has officially stated about launching “quadruple-play” service that includes Internet, fixed and mobile telephony, and cable TV. The company intends to deliver the service to its corporate and residential customers through partnership with Telefonica, the Spanish wireless giant.
According to the officials, Megacable will be responsible for marketing, sales, distribution and billing of the new venture. Telefonica, in its turn, will provide the mobile network.
The company was offering triple-play combinations across several Mexican regions.
The new cellular service, called Megacel, will deploy network infrastructure of Telef?nica.
Already last year, Megacable indicated company’s intention to be a quad-play service provider “by going down the mobile virtual network operation (MVNO) road”.
Megacel is expected to operate as a virtual mobile network operator. The new package will offer Internet connection with speeds up to 5 Mbps, cable TV, fixed-line telephony and three mobile phone lines.
This package will be available for about $62 per month.
