AT&T and DirecTV Inked a Contract Extension AT&T and DirecTV Inked a Contract ExtensionAT&T and DirecTV Inked a Contract Extension

6 November 2011

AT&T has recently announced that the company had extended its partnership with DirecTV, so the company can use satellite service as a gap filler even in areas where it does not provide its U-verse IPTV service.
Under the terms of the contract, AT&T will offer a co-branded version of DirecTV's satellite TV service in 22 states where the company provides consumer voice and broadband services.
Customers will have an opportunity to buy dual, triple or quadruple-play bundles that include DirecTV service along with AT&T broadband, wireline and wireless voice services, as well as bundled discounts for combination of DirecTV service with qualifying AT&T services.

Bundled packages influence AT&T's customer-base: during Q3 the telco claimed that about three-fourths of its U-verse TV subscribers also subscribed to a triple- or quad-play option.

Additionally, DirecTV will resell AT&T's broadband services to its existing customers both directly and via its distribution channels.
