21 November 2011

Cisco has officially announced its plans to make company’s popular WebEx and Jabber products more "people centric", allowing users to collaborate anytime, anywhere and on any device or app.
Cisco is offering a free basic version of WebEx. And the company’s objective is “to reach more people on more devices."
WebEx has introduced "Meetings spaces": users can access files and presentations in the cloud before a meeting in real time at any time. Moreover, users can check on availability of their colleagues through presence as well as begin synchronous conversations through IM to prepare, collaborate and follow up. They can schedule meetings, share agendas, action items, recordings as well as other relevant documents.
It also allows users be engaged in two-way video meetings on mobile devices with support for Cisco's Cius tablet, Apple's iPhone and iPad. VoIP is also available on devices from Apple.
The free WebEx version supports up to three meeting participants and offers VoIP audio, IM, standard video, presence, 250 MB of storage and desktop sharing.
Cisco plans to launch the beta version in December, with general availability scheduled for the Q1 2012.
