Polycom Announced New Software Update Polycom Announced New Software UpdatePolycom Announced New Software Update

23 November 2011

Polycom, one of leaders in standards-based UC, has recently announced a new software update.
The company introduced the update to the Polycom RealPresence Platform that allows customers who deploy Polycom and other standards-based solutions “to join calls with non-standard Cisco telepresence systems, and vice-versa.” Additionally, the software update can expand interoperability across IBM and Microsoft UC environments.
The executive VP and GM of UC solutions and chief development officer at Polycom commented that company’s support for TIP is to free users of non-standard Cisco telepresence by enabling them to connect to millions of other video systems deployed all over the world.
The solution establishes Polycom as the leading company in open standards and interoperability, and offers investment protection for company’s customers.
According to company’s officials, the Polycom RealPresence Platform represents one of the most all-encompassing infrastructures for video collaboration.
Due to the interoperability with Cisco TelePresence Systems, the company has been able to ensure support for the Telepresence Interoperability Protocol (TIP) that represents a communications protocol developed by Cisco and implemented on Cisco TelePresence System suites.
