2 December 2011

Verizon Communications has recently announced that company’s FiOS TV app for Microsoft Xbox Live users will be rolled out and available for downloading from December 6.
This announcement had been widely expected as it was reported that Verizon and Comcast were the latest carriers entering into partnership with Microsoft on new applications.
According to GigaOM, users who expect the full FiOS programming experience would be disappointed by the fact that the application launches with only 26 broadcast channels.
Verizon launches the application with channels owned by programmers “that have allowed the app to fit into their distribution agreements.” Company’s officials commented that they are working on offering more channels in the near future.
The new app from Verizon is for FiOS customers subscribed to both FiOS TV and FiOS Internet and members of Microsoft Xbox LIVE Gold. Additionally, the app can be used together with the Kinect for Xbox 360 voice and gesture TV controller; it does not need any additional new hardware.
