Google Introduced Chrome’s Dev-Version with WebRTC Support | |
24 January 2012
Google has recently introduced a dev-version of Chrome with support for WebRTC that represents an “integrated real-time audio and video communications system that could see VoIP, video conferencing and even streaming gaming baked into the browser.”
The company revealed plans to integrate WebRTC into Chrome last summer, with the technology offering a way to call upon standardized voice/video communication from the browser. It could mean applications like Google Talk could challenge rivals like Skype from standards-compliant browsers, rather than requiring a separate application to be installed.
WebRTC also offers potential for cloud-based streaming services like OnLive gaming that represents one more element tipped for inclusion in a Chrome build.
