26 January 2012

Avaya has recently introduced Avaya Flare Communicator for iPad tablets from Apple. The user experience of the Avaya Flare Experience delivered on the Avaya Desktop Video Device now includes also the market-leading consumer tablet.
This provides mobile workers with UC and collaboration functionality and secure connectivity over Wi-Fi and 3G networks.
According to Avaya officials, the solution is targeted at Avaya Aura 6.1 clients that wish to expand the in-office experience to mobile workers. It allows customers to get faster return on investment and reduce cellular costs.
As company stated, it can reduce cellular costs by allowing employees to make calls via Wi-Fi network. And employees keep existing work numbers, contact list, enterprise-class voice functionality and other features. Moreover, “users can manage two simultaneous voice calls using the iPad while mobile, and multi-task on the iPad tablet while reading e-mail, attending a Web conference, or using other applications or functionality.”
The solution supports voice, IM, e-mail, contacts, presence, and application integration. Video collaboration functionality is planned to be added in the second half of 2012.
