28 January 2012

Alcatel-Lucent has stated that the company is enabling H3G, a mobile operator in Austria, to meet increasing subscriber requirement for mobile Internet, video and data services by significantly increasing the speed and capacity of the data network.
H3G Austria handles the largest volume of mobile broadband traffic of Austrian operators. The company will implement Alcatel-Lucent's 100 G optical coherent technology. The solution is relatively simple and highly cost effective; it represents an in-service network upgrade and enables H3G to extend network capacity over existing fiber-optic infrastructure.
Under the terms of the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will provide H3G Austria with the 100G coherent optical solution, which includes the 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) and the 1626 Light Manager (LM).
The 1830 PSS and 1626 LM are main elements of the Alcatel-Lucent High Leverage Network (HLN) architecture that has been designed to reduce transport costs and operational complexity in networks.
