Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Launches VoIP Service | |

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, a telecom company, has recently announced launching VoIP service. Now over three million Econet subscribers will be able to make low-cost international calls from phones, tablets and computers via the Internet.
Company’s officials commented that “the country currently has six VoIP service providers that include PowerTel, Gigatel, Econet, Brodacom and Africom.” They also noted existing challenges for VoIP services, including high installation cost, poor network coverage, unavailability of lines and ageing infrastructure.
The service offers international calls, call transfers, voicemails and call waiting. VoIP can be used on phones, laptops, and tablets, just customers need to get new SIM cards for the service.
