 Verizon Formed Joint Venture with Coinstar's Redbox

Verizon and Coinstar, have jointly announced a joint venture in order to create a new option for customers looking for affordable and simple way to access the video entertainment. The new services will provide all of the simplicity, convenience, and value of Redbox new release DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals in a combination with Verizon’s new video on-demand streaming and download service.
According to officials, the joint venture is going “to introduce the product portfolio in the second half of 2012”; it will provide subscription services and more that will allow US customers to enjoy the entertainment they want.
As two companies stated, they will reveal additional brand and product information in the nearest months.
Verizon representatives commented that "when you consider the core elements the parties bring to this venture – our powerful brands; our national rental kiosk footprint; our anytime, anywhere network presence; and our mutual commitment to customer-focused innovation – it's clear that Verizon and Redbox are a powerful entertainment team."
