Telmex Selected Alcatel-Lucent as a Major Supplier for Latin America's Broadband Access Network | |
14 February 2012
Alcatel-Lucent has recently announced the rollout of one of Latin America's largest broadband networks together with Telmex.
Telmex has chosen Alcatel-Lucent as a major supplier for the deployment of the fastest broadband access network based on GPON and VDSL2 technologies in Mexico in order to meet increasing demand for high-speed Internet and high-bandwidth apps like video-on-demand, social networks, entertainment and other services.
Telmex intends to extend VDSL2 and fiber-optics network coverage in order to connect millions of homes to high-speed Internet services and provide end-users with increased advantages, such as higher speeds, access to various multimedia content and increases in available bandwidth.
Telmex has selected Alcatel-Lucent as a strategic supplier.
Lacatel-Lucent officials noted, "This is a strategic project that reinforces our long-term and very successful relationship with Telmex. With our advanced broadband access technologies, the new network will allow Telmex to reliably move huge amounts of traffic and multimedia content to remote areas, with better quality signals, ultra high speeds of up to 100 megabits per second per subscriber, and substantial savings in maintenance costs."
