20 February 2012

FiberLight, one of the leading providers of fiber optic networks, has recently stated that the company had begun construction on a new super metro and regional fiber infrastructure in Western Texas.
According to the company, the new network includes the cities of San Angelo, Midland, Odessa, Lubbock, Abilene and Amarillo; it will be interconnected with company’s existing regional Texas longhaul network and its metro assets in San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth.
The project will also include a 250-route mile extension of company’s existing Dallas metro fiber infrastructure, expanding FiberLight’s competitive fiber backbone in the market.
According to company officials, FiberLight's initial focus is to offer required high speed Ethernet connectivity over company’s fiber to government, large enterprises and carriers across the region.
The company plans to have construction crews working in West Texas for the next 18 months; moreover, it will be collaborating with local economic development organizations, municipalities and major customers “to accelerate the development potential of this major investment in new fiber optic infrastructure.”
