Synergy Research Group has recently announces the publication of its 4Q11 Carrier Infrastructure Market Share report. The report provides information concerning quarterly market shares for Service Provider Core Routers, Carrier Ethernet Switches and Edge Routers.
The Q4 2011 saw carrier infrastructure revenues at the rate of $3 billion for the third successive quarter. Full-year 2011 revenues demonstrated a 3.5% uptick from 2010; however, Q4 2011 revenues were down almost 10% in comparison with Q4 2010.
Cisco completed 2011 with a 51% market share in the last quarter and a 50% share of full-year revenues.
Alcatel-Lucent was zipping past Juniper in order to take over the number 2 spot in the market share ranking. Alcatel-Lucent increased its revenues significantly from the previous quarter, whereas Juniper's revenues declined, providing Alcatel-Lucent with a clear market share lead of 2.7% in the quarter. As for the full year, Juniper maintained its number two ranking: 18.2% market share for Juniper versus 16.8% for Alcatel-Lucent.
