 GL Communications Released New GSM & UMTS MAP Emulation Software

GL Communications has recently announced the release of company’s latest GSM & UMTS MAP Emulation software.
According to the company, “Mobile Application Part (MAP) is an SS7 protocol used by various elements in GSM, UMTS, and GPRS mobile “core” networks to provide services to mobile phone users.”
Usually SS7 is carried by TDM (T1 and E1) circuits; but a special IP protocol, SIGTRAN, is also gaining acceptance rapidly.
Message Automation and Protocol Simulation product line from GL is deployed to emulate all the MAP interfaces.
MAPS represents an advanced and versatile protocol simulator/tester simulating different protocols encountered in the telecom space, such as ISDN, CAS, SS7, and other. Moreover, it supports all the GSM and UMTS MAP interfaces.
GL Communications officials commented, “MAPS MAP Emulator supports powerful utilities like Message Editor, Script Editor, and Profile Editor which allow new scenarios to be created or existing scenarios to be modified using MAP messages and parameters.”
