29 February 2012

Nokia Siemens Networks is looking for potential buyers of company’s wireline assets as the company realigns the “focus on becoming a wireless-centric vendor.”
At Mobile World Congress, NSN CEO commented that the company plans to shed more elements of the company following the sale of three units in 2011. "We are already negotiating with buyers to sell some assets. We are taking other assets into maintenance mode, shifting investments out into other segments."
In 2011, the company made three major deals, selling the microwave division to Dragonwave, the WiMAX business to SkyView's NewNet Technologies, and the wireline broadband access unit to ADTRAN.
All these pending sales represent part of the company’s strategy announced in November to reduce $1.3 billion in company’s annual costs. Additionally, company’s officials said that NBN would lay off 17,000 employees that is 23% of its workforce, over the next two years.
