Skype Launches GroupMe Skype Launches GroupMeSkype Launches GroupMe

2 March 2012

Skype announced in August that it would be acquiring a new group messaging service, GroupMe, founded in 2010.
Skype paid over $50 million for the messaging service, and finally announced launching the application for Windows Phones.
GroupMe enables users “to create on the fly private phone groups with others, and then send text messages throughout the group and set up free conference calls.”
According to GroupMe, the service is “the best way to chat with everyone you know. It’s absolutely free, whether you are talking to a group of friends, or texting with one person. Best of all, it works on nearly every phone, via push or SMS.”
GroupMe enables users to send a message to several persons with one touch. With this service enterprises can maintain control over meetings and messages. “The only restriction is the 25-person limitation, which limits big businesses from joining the brand-new messaging service.”
GroupMe is now available for free download for Windows Phone, Android, iPhone, and BlackBerry devices.
