30 April 2012

The FCC will soon be requiring VoIP service providers in the US to report VoIP service outages to the FCC. The ruling, which was published Friday, only applies to VoIP service providers, and not to broadband Internet service providers.

The official date for this requirement to take effect has not been confirmed by the FCC yet. The FCC's goal with this regulation is to ensure that the United States' 911 emergency communication system is reliable and stable.
