Vonage dominated the VoIP residential market until 2004. At which time control over this market transferred to the powerful cable companies, effectively opening this extensive market to mainstream telephone users.
By 2006 Skype got over 100 million subscribers, and caught the interest of eBay. 2006 also saw Microsoft, Apple, Google, Yahoo and AOL enter this market.
Now other companies besides these main telecom providers have entered this giant market place and include Business to Business relationships, VoIP Is a part of IT which is Internet Technology. IT is moving rapidly, and most companies are now hiring specific firms to handle all their IT needs.

Every person and corporation that has vision, and perhaps-a-credit-card are starting a VoIP business for the chance to be in the most rapidly growing sector, a $1.2 trillion global telecom market that was projected to grow to $1.6 trillion by 2010, and it hasn’t missed the market.
