Until the Beginning of 2011 Google Will not Introduce any fiber communities
| |
19 December 2010
Google's project Fiber to the Home was on the first pages of all broadband issues this year, but for more news we need to wait until the new 2011.
Until now Google didn’t decide on what community it will test its 1 Gbps fiber-based broadband network, and the decision is expected to be published only in 2011. Totally, more than 1,100 communities and 194,000 individuals offered to participate in the program.
Last week Google was noticed in two important moves. Firstly, it decided that competitive service provider Sonic.net will run its pilot FTTH network at Stanford University. Secondly, Google made offer to Internet pioneer Milo Medin, who is more famous as the founder of ISP @Home, to become vice president of access services.
