After 2-days Outage Skype Will Offer Refunds | |
25 December 2010
Skype announced that it will make refund to clients unable to make calls during a 2-days world-wide service outage.
Tony Bates, CEO of Skype, made an announcement on the company's Web site, bringing apologies for the service outage of Skype and promising refund.
The company has been stabilized Skype’s functionality and now the service is about 90% of normal volumes, Bates stated.
He noted that most of services are running in normal way: audio, video and instant messaging; but some others like offline IM and Group Video Calling, are not available yet.
Bites stated: "We are working hard to restore them in due course. We now understand the cause of the problem and we believe it was not caused by a malicious attack. But we are still doing a full analysis and we will provide an in-depth post-mortem."
He added that Pay As You Go and Pre-Pay customers will receive a Skype Credit voucher through e-mail for 30 minutes of free calling to landlines anywhere in the world.
