Poor Customer Service Support

Posted: Feb 28, 2024
The Good:

The Bad:

STAY AWAY!!! I booked in yesterday with agent John Acre and within 5 minutes I had a phone. No one helped me start it or login, I asked the agent multiple times on what to do. When I asked about messaging he told me to contact support. I contacted support and was told it would be an additional $80 but no one stated that in the contract I signed. I told him I want the account cancelled and closed. He said that was fine and an agent would contact me within 24 hours. Its been over 24 hours AND NO ONE CONTACTS ME. I contacted their support service online and was told to wait 48 hours. When I said that would not happen I was told that cancellations take 30 days!!!! Excuse me, I cancelled within an hour of opening the service and they want me to wait 30 days to cancel. These posts will get worse and I am contacting BBB and Ive contacted my bank.

Terrible!!

The Good:

The Bad:

Our company got 8X8 and had trouble from the get go to set it up. I asked for help and even offered to pay someone to come out and set it up but was told they don't do that and I could watch some videos or look at their website for help. About 5 months later of never using the service and paying for it, the owner of the company passed away with Covid. I called and asked to cancel the service as we were deciding whether or not the company would continue. They said the only way to cancel is to pay the entire 2 year contract in full. Just a terrible customer service experience and a no very understanding or compassionate business. Think twice before signing up for their service!

The worst experience ever

The Good:

The Bad:

The worst experience ever. I would put 0 stars if I could. It started off as a great partnership, but recently became a nightmare. Firstly - our call log history disappeared and it took them 4 DAYS to fix that, in the meanwhile we couldnt even see the calls we might have missed during that time. Support was just terrible - unresponsive, unprofessional with a terrible English. They finally managed to fix that and I was almost certain to switch to another company, but they promised me that it is the last time something like this happens. Fast forward to today - we have been unable to send out any texts for a majority of our extensions since Thursday last week. It is Tuesday today and the issue is still there even though they told me two or three times that it was fixed. As I am writing this review I have been listening to their TERRIBLE on hold melody for 39 minutes while they are supposedly transferring me to a senior tech whatever it means. We are now in the sixth day of waiting, yesterday lost a $1500+ of revenue because of this and who know how much more we are going to lose because of this terrible company. We will be porting out our numbers and leaving 8x8 for good as soon as humanly possible and I will probably be putting a case together with my attorney to sue them for lost profits. My advise - never work with this company and if you are working with them now - run without looking back.

This is the worst customer experience possible. This company is continually breaking their own system... they no more than stabilize it and they roll out another update that breaks it all over again. The best part is trying to work through their customer supports distinct language barrier only to sit on hold for hours. If your company needs reliability in it's phone system, do NOT select 8x8.

TURN AWAY. DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THIS COMPANY

Posted: Dec 10, 2020
The Good:

The Bad:

This company is by FAR the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is poorly trained, they promise features that don't exist, its impossible to reach them for help, they try to beg you to stay on as a customer so you don't cancel but then make it IMPOSSIBLE to cancel their services. I will never ever recommend this company to anyone. I can't believe I stuck along as long as I did. For a telecommunications company, they are AWFUL at communicating, being transparent, and being an actual human being for how crappy of a customer experience they provide for their "valued clients". TURN AWAY DO NOT CONSIDER THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS.

8 x 8 is charging me $740 to cancel service. I have been a customer since 2017. Needed to cancel as my business closed for Covid 19 They where horrifying to speak with about this. They had 3 different amounts then landed on the $740 being the most. This had nothing to do with monthly charges, as those where always automatic and up to date. This is a totally made up number as they can not produce a contract. They tell me to reference small print. The small print is not clear- and they cant confirm that was even there with I started service in 2017. There is nothing about an amount for a cancelation fee in the small print. The whole thing is criminal and fraudulent. You can't even get a professional on the phone. They where all emotional and escalated. One even laughed at me. This is beyond traumatizing. I didn't know stuff like this still happened. Please- I will do everything I can to protect other small businesses from this horrifying company. Please- there are many other VOIP companys- pick any of them but 8 x8- and please ask them about hidden fake contracts, and cancelation terms.

"Mid-Market" 8x8 customer since 2012 with 34 lines and 10 toll free numbers. I was hired in 2013. From the moment I was hired I was getting complaints about dropped calls, spotty call quality, and issues with the softphones. After cleaning up the network, I came to realize it wasn't us (or our 500Mbps DIA connection) it was 8x8. Constantly have had problems over the past five years. If you need support, expect long hold times (30 minutes +) and to have to start running the gauntlet at the base level of support. If, you can get the person on the other end to understand that you're in a higher tier of support, expect more hold time. It's incredibly frustrating considering hosted PBX/VOIP services are supposed to save you time and make your life easier. I'm constantly having to call 8x8 support due to not being able to call certain numbers. Their softphone app constantly crashes or interferes with other programs like webex, chrome/firefox, VNC, Lync, Skype, Hipchat, etc. and often causes issues with computer sound (running Dell optiplex and XPS in this office) forcing a reboot to restore sound levels. The "meetings" part of the softphone app is a disaster. It's so bad we just ended up using gotomeeting instead. The conference lines kept having a problem where if you called in with an iPhone people could hear you but you couldn't hear anyone else. Billing is absolute nonsense. My company's accounting team and IT got together with 8x8 trying to determine what we were being billed for and no one at 8x8 could actually tell us. it's been 6 weeks and we're still waiting on an answer. This company has been an absolute nightmare to work with. If you decide to be brave and use them, you'll regret it. Here's an image of their softphone desktop app (and the amount of time I've been on hold with their support team for yet another number that can't be dialed. You'd think calling from Austin to Anaheim would be easy, huh?) http://imagehost.phoenix-nest.com/?di=6154948616415

Not one good thing to say about this company/service.

Posted: Feb 14, 2018
The Good:

The Bad:

From customer support to intervening sales rep to billing support from the products and services themselves, we have received the WORST service from your company. Best part? No one seems to care. The app doesn't work well at all, and definitely doesn't flow with the VOD app. We had status update issues for over a year. The "New Experience" is worse than the classic app. Assigning a severity level to your support cases doesn't make any difference with how quickly a support rep gets in touch with you, so a "system failure" is treated the same as a "minimum business impact." Support is a classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. We're getting rid of them as soon as we feasibly can, and I would never recommend them to anyone ever.

We've been trying to get 8x8 to fix a chronic problem with our recorded calls getting randomly lost or corrupted. We call and email them daily and get little to no response. The typical response is "that department is very busy with other problems, we'll get to yours when we get to it." They say that the problem gets escalated to a higher tier but we still haven't gotten a response and it's been over a week now. I've called our rep Aldrich and he says that he's done all that he can and I've talked to Donovan who is apparently the head of the tech department and he is the one that told me that they'll get to our calls when they get to them. Very unresponsive when it comes to resolving issues

Left 8X8

The Bad:

After 12 months of frustration, we have moved away from 8X8. The issue was never the suite of features. It was customer service for a persistent problem. The basic requirement for a telephone system is that it allows me to make and receive calls. For 12 months, we were unable to receive call from many local people. I was told that it was not the fault of 8X8 and to contact our old provider, Verizon. Verizon said they had ported the number and that was all they could do. We have switched to 3CX. Within 2 days, the local contact was able to trace and resolve the problem. Anyone can now call. My experience shows that 8X8 is not willing to help solve a serious problem. I should also add that they offered no compensation for this issue. I cannot recommend 8x8

8x8 Frustration

Posted: May 19, 2017
The Good:

The Bad:

Following a very stressful 24 months after migrating from a reliable Avaya system to 8x8, we have decided to pull the plug. Unfortunately 8x8have failed to step up to the plate when it counts most. Their support has been close to none-existant and technician training is dire. To top it all off, 8x8 will not accept and early termination even though our Directors are continually have call quality issues and are fed up. This is extremely embarressing considering I recommended the move. I urge anyone to think twice before committing to anything beyond 12 months as you are stuck...no matter what!!!. Below is the email I received confirming that early termination is not an option. Rather poor considering it would be no skin off their noses as there is no direct cost implication, just a loss of 12 months revenue. Think twice as there are better options available. ++++++++++++++++++++++ I have had word back from the finance department As this is deemed not an 8x8 system failure i cannot reduce the termination cost Im sorry i cannot be of help on this +++++++++++++++++++++

8x8 as a VoIP provider is good. I also recently upgraded firmware due to SIP trunks failing, the first time it failed I reentered the password and it started working again, the second time I went through several versions to get to the latest firmware and it had been working good for a couple of weeks but now trunks are showing as REJECTED. Nothing I change fixes them. It's strange how they just stopped working one day. I have tested sip trunks on other devices via route-test.com and they are working fine, just not on the UCM6102

Price more than doubled in 1 year

Posted: Apr 06, 2017

The Bad:

Have had service with the company for nearly 17 months and the price started at $35.29 per month and I did not closely monitor pricing on my account and within 17 months the price more than doubled to $74.13, no additional services added...since the bill is paid by a business credit card it was my mistake for not contacting the company sooner, but every 2-3 months the company arbitrarily raised the prices, now they are more expensive than a traditional phone company! I do not recommend especially as they make you jump through hoops to cancel service...avoid this company, less expensive options are available like Ooma, have service with this company for 3 years and no price increases

Horrible Customer Service 8x8

8x8 customer service is not good, expect bills of $60 per month per line and their billing system is horrible. We ran phones for multiple companies and for over two years have had problems downloading the phone statements. You have to go online and get them, they will not send them to you and over the years, there have at least three times that the statements could not be downloaded for several months at a time. Tech service agreed there was a problem each time, but could not produce a statement. They have no problem billing your credit card, and with money in hand, it seems as if your problems are not their problems

Initial phone rates were great and so was the quality for the first year. Everything got progressively worse. I got new phones, new modems that were specially made for 8x8 that did absolutely nothing. Phone bills doubled in about 6 months. Phone calls would fade in and out and I would miss whole parts of the conversations. Features on the phone like the auto attendants would just come off for no reason as would the greetings. I would get voicemails at 7 am that said they were left at 5 pm that evening and nobody could figure out how to fix it?? I was with these people for 5 years and I called to drop a couple extensions and they said I had to give them 30 days notice. When I wanted to drop one of my numbers, that I'd had for years, I was told I had an Early Termination Fee?? I didn't sign a contract with them. They said because they posted it on their website it was the contract. I would warn anybody against signing up with these scammers!

Top Reasons to Drop Your Phone Service in Your Medical Practice If you have the internet in your office you can save a fortune on your phone bill. There is a much better way to utilize your phone in the office and here is how: You can answer phones, block junk calls, fax papers right off of the internet safely. The key is to team up with a company that gives you a Business Associates Agreement. This will cover HIPPA's regulation for Itech in your office for your phone, faxing and answering service. Oh, by the way I have to mention that you can also close your contract with your emergency after hours phone service too. You will not need to ever miss any emergency calls again. The ability to have the calls sent to you any where at any time is now available. Let's take a deeper look at how to save money. It cost a lot for a answering service that may or may not record the messages and phone numbers correctly for you. This is all taken care of because you will hear the message coming in and be able to call directly to the patient any where you are at. Out of town, no problem, at home you are covered. This team will be able to get the message right to your iphone or any other mobile phone thru the app that comes along with your service. I know your thinking it is too complicated and that's is reasonable to think that way at the start. All of our questions were answered by their award wining sales team and tech team when we signed on. Yes, I dropped our local phone company and found the best service for our office. Have I saved a lot from going this route. Yes, many times over. I can also control when to answer the phones so that I can talk with the patients and find out just what they need. It allows for better scheduling for the doctor as well. Love Monday mornings with all of the emergency's hitting your answering machines, I don't have to worry about it at all. I just open the app the night before, review the messages and then go right to my schedule to see where to schedule them in. My dental software is on the cloud and I my new phone service tech support is just as great as my dental software team! If you want your patients to hear certain announcements when they call in you have this feature in the auto attendant. You will not have to pay extra for this feature and in fact you can drop your prerecorded sales message that you have pay for and design your own add for free. Our office likes the fact that we can trail any call that comes in. We are able to print a call list out and call back the patients who don't leave a messages. It has really brought in more revenue when we are out of the office. Patients will not always leave a message on your off hours but they love it when you call them back and say I say, I saw your phone number on our call log what can I do for you! It will bring in more and more costumers for your office and your patients know that your team will call them back! In running the technology in our office, I can say first hand that this team is very capable of running our phone system, hands down. I only choose the top of the line companies to work with because my time is valuable in running our office. Oh, by the way you can down size your staff using this phone system as well. We have a very small staff and I have all of the technology working great in our office! Now, in short here is what you are looking for: Phone, faxing and answering abilities for your office. No more phone bills No more need for emergency answering services 24 Tech support for all your business needs Business Associates Aggreemet for HIPPA compilance No more large overhead cost from your local phone company Ability to block junk calls Ability to use a super great auto attendant that you will never live without it again! Check your messages anywhere Call patients on the go Block Junk Calls and use your phone more wisely There is much more than what I have mentioned above that this team can give you at a price that the phone company can not beat! Don't forget they major in supporting Medical and Dental offices so that is a big plus with this company. Who is the company? It is 8x8.com and your going love being with this team

All fluff, poor substance. -8x8

Posted: Mar 08, 2014
The Good:

The Bad:

10-days into evaluating 8x8... Tech support is ignorant and ill equipped; complete waste of time calling in. Tech support has no clue how to address issues and resolve them. If you don't know how to reboot your computer, they're great help with that. But that's the extent of their problem solving. The online help documents seem -awesome- and complete; a big reason I signed up. But once you start following them you realize they aren't accurate, and a complete waste of time. All fluff, no substance. (I used to run tech support for Microsoft, so I understand the challenges they face. But this is B-A-D, even for MS warm-body in a seat standards) My issues have been basic IMHO - uploading audio files, accessing voice mail from the softphone app, creating a meeting. Almost 4 hours on the phone with -no- solutions provided. Then more time spent in-house figuring out how to hack it into working. Seriously, your time is better spent not calling tech support, they don't know anything more than you do. Tech support is difficult to reach; touch tone hell/long hold times. If your business counts on reliable phone service, you probably are going to want reliable/reachable/effective support. Beware; Sales seemed knowledgeable and friendly. Once signed up, and you move over to tech support, that goes away. Many features promised, have turned into additional purchases. $40/month for my test line, has turned into $70, for basic features. Be warned, not only does it cost more, but the time spent trying to get it to work, is wasted once you find out the reason it didn't work, is because they want to charge your credit card another add-on fee. Softphone app works, but it's buggy. Just little stuff that you can deal with... Rebooting/logging in and out fixes about 1/2 the issues. But if you're running a business, you and your employees, are probably looking for something a little more reliable/easy to use. Not business class. 8x8 features are spot on, they just need to work the bugs out. A few years in, I wonder if that's a priority...? Officially throwing in the towel and moving on to evaluate another VOIP service...sigh

I will never deal with 8x8 again

Posted: Apr 12, 2013
The Good:

The Bad:

I was very disappointed in my experience with 8x8, and will never do business with them again. To start with, the system did not have some basic features one would expect from any PBX solution. For example, the softphone rings the headset rather than the PC speaker. Thats fine for a call center solution, but not for a work desk where people dont wear their headsets all day long. There were other feature problems as well. I discovered these issues on the first day of use. I tried to work with tech support and sales to work around the problems, but they did not have solutions. So, we cancelled our service the next day. To my surprise, 8x8 did not issue a refund. I had to call to request a refund. After a long wait, they agreed to issue a PARTIAL refund (about 70% of what I paid them) and said I would receive it within 8 days. I called back 3 weeks later because I had still not received my refund. Another long wait, and finally the representative, Jessica, told me she would look into it. I have yet to receive any refund. Some companies are poorly run, some have bad products or bad services, and some are dishonest. Based on my experience with 8x8, I believe it to be guilty of the first two. I hope it is not guilty of the third

8x8 Tech and Sales Sides Don't Communicate

Posted: Jan 07, 2013
The Good:

The Bad:

I used 8x8 for 2 years with a former partner for our law firm; sound quality and pricing okay for our 6 lines, but service issues *always* took much longer to address than they should have and often required multiple calls to 8x8's tech and/or sales lines. Two months ago, I began my own firm and wanted to take my two phone lines (the ones listed on business cards) to a new, separate 8x8 account. Seems relatively simple to take 2 lines out of an existing 8x8 account and create a new account, no? NO. It is now two months later and ONLY TODAY was the full migration of my account information and numbers completed. In the interim, I have had to deal with 3 sales reps and 2 tech reps for a total of over 6 hours on the phone to 8x8 between me and my assistant. The tech guys blamed sales for not "properly documenting" what I wanted. The sales gals blamed tech for not understanding their terminology. The final determination from 8x8 on why an order placed in November took almost 2 months to execute? "Someone dropped the ball." I blame a lousy corporate culture and management that creates such walls and lack of commonly shared, fundamental knowledge within the organization. Meanwhile, as 8x8 reps were busy pointing fingers at each other, I (1) was being billed on my old account and the new account simultaneously, (2) couldn't get a ring tone on my main business line, (3) had my business number showing up as an area code 10 states away from where I do business, and (4) wasted a lot of time trying to do 8x8's job. If you've read this far, you're probably wondering why I didn't just give up on 8x8 and take my business elsewhere. At each step in the process, I thought *surely* now things would finally get fixed. Don't make the same mistake I made -- avoid 8x8 and go with a more reliable and better-managed VOIPs

8x8 Works Great

Posted: May 31, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

We've been using 8x8 for over a year now and I feel it's time I left them a review. The best way to put it is that I have no complaints because the service does everything it is supposed to do, is rarely ever "down", and we get all of this at a great price compared to what we were paying before. My favorite feature is the way 8x8 integrates with your mobile phone. I can make calls using their app on my mobile phone and it will show up as my office number in the caller ID of the person I'm calling, which is great when I am out of the office. If you're looking for solid, inexpensive phone service with great features that just works, go with 8x8

RAVING 8X8 FAN!

The Good:

The Bad:

First, if you want a complete communications solution, I highly recommend 8x8! We are an IT consulting firm, Managed Service Provider, and we started using 8x8 about 2 years ago and haven't had any issues at all. From the beginning, I cant say enough how great their support is. The entire process was an extremely pleasant one. There was no pressure sales tactics from my sales rep. Shipment was very quick and everything arrived neatly packed. The installation was simple and easy; so easy, my 10 year old could have done it. If you need any help, the support is quick, courteous and they speak to you in terms that you can understand! I have called for help on a number of occasions and theyve never let me down. They have many options for phones and in different price ranges. They are all solid and have so many features such as web conferencing, Internet faxing, smartphone integration, softphone for your computer, reporting and an online dashboard that gives you total control over your entire phone system. One of my favorite features is getting voicemails in your email and smart phone. Most of my team is on the road quite a bit so whenever a client calls our desk phones, we wouldnt know about it until we were back in the office. With 8x8, we are notified within seconds if a client calls us in the office and leaves a message. Theres even a feature that allows you to dial multiple phone numbers, like your cell and/or home number, then the person would say their name and allow you to screen the call so you can make the decision if you want to take the call or forward it to voicemail. My number one concern was voice quality, and over the last two years I am extremely pleased to say that we havent had any issues. In fact, weve had so much success over the last couple of years that we have recently signed on as a partner and are now offering the 8x8 services to all of our clients. I highly recommend 8X8! 8x8: Legendary Support

The Good:

The Bad:

We have been using 8x8 for 4 months now and have not had any issues. Moved from another VoIP provider that had little to zero support. 8x8 has tons of features included in the standard price including smartphone app, softphone, auto-attendant. The voice quality has not been an issue and would reccomend it to anyone looking for an enterprise class product at a small business price

8x8 has lost its ethics and lost its way

Posted: Sep 26, 2011
The Good:

The Bad:

I have been a customer since 2005, when 8x8 was still calling itself packet8. I was a very happy one for years. As you will see below, 8x8 has lost its ethics and lost it way as a service oriented company. I steered business to 8x8 and have even had personal service from the CEO because they were so small when I started. Over the last several years, they have not stayed price competitive, but I was fine with that because I had a happy history with the company. Then they overcharged a non profit I recommended them to by a significant amount. I had to get involved and fight them on it, finally involving the CEO directly. The billing was reversed, but they would not make a commitment that this would never happen again since they believed they were in the right. I had the non-profit close the account. After that, it was discovered that 8x8 harvested email addresses of every person ever invited to a virtual meeting by that non-profit and has been constantly spamming all of those people ever since. Two honey pot addresses for the non-profit's invitations receive 5 or more offers per week written in a mail merge to "[undisclosed person]". I complained to the company multiple times and they will not explain this unethical behavior nor change it. This time the CEO has not responded. As a result, I am canceling my account today. I have written the people being spammed to apologize and suggested that they file CANSPAM complaints since almost all are in the USA. After a review of options, I will prepay two year with a vendor which is $6.21 per month plus CA tax. 8x8 has lost its ethics, and lost its way. I am so upset that it was painful to give them a 4 star rating for features, and 3's for sound and reliability, but those are 1 assessments. Ethics is a non-negotiable for me, so the last two items actually bring my overall rating to less than half a star if I had the opportunity to assess the organization as a whole

8x8 Full Service Provider

The Bad:

The installation process was not as smooth as we had hoped, but it did nto affect us as we had our old phone systeme in place until the new system came up. At first we thought it might vbe 8x8 quality issues, but we found out after they recommended to us to get a $100 router that prioritizes voice packets the service and quality was great. We have come to learn that the quality provided by 8x8 is great and as soon as we learned that we had to prioritize packets in our router that was a simple setting we were quite happy. andnbsp

8x8 Customer Review

The Good:

The Bad:

The quality of Packet 8 service is as good and perhaps even better than regular phone service, and definitely much better than mobile service. I have called a wide range of differenty phone numbers around the world and never had any problems. Furthermore, I have taken the unit with me to Russia and used it from Moscow to place calls to Britain and the United States and have enjoyed the same high quality connections from Moscow as from here in Seattle. And a colleague now has a Packet 8 phone in London and is using it for international calling all around the world, also without any problems. One of the best things about Packet 8 is the savings! Unlike regular phone service, I am not paying massive surcharges in taxes to my local city and state and federal government. There is just one, single 3% federal tax

8x8 - Voip Provider Review

My Packet8 experience has been absolutely wonderful so far. When I received my Uniden 1868P VoIP Internet Phone adapter/telephone combo device, I was able to install it in minutes due to the excellent instructions that were enclosed. After making the necessary cable connections, I lifted the receiver, dialed the special code that was provided, and had an email confirming my activation within minutes. I made my first "live" internet phone call within 15 minutes of unpacking the adapter. As an IT professional, I have installed hundreds of new hardware devices and have never experienced a setup as quick and easy as this one

8x8, inc. is a great and easy way to enter into the world of Voice Over IP. It is very easy to set up, simple to use, and a great money saver. Previously I was trapped in a nightmare of porting my phone numbers and then being disconnected however, 8x8, inc. was very helpful throughout the whole process of getting things straightened out and corrected. Thank you 8x8

After doing a lot of research on VOIP providers I chose 8x8 Inc. Due to problems with my ISP, I have had very extensive dealings with their tech support. Hands down, 8x8 are the best that I have ever dealt with throughout the many, many years being in this industry. They did everything they could to make this successful for us and also taught me a lot about broadband technology at the same time. Good Company with Good Service. I am sticking with 8x8 Inc

8x8: wonderful customer support

Posted: Mar 09, 2010
The Good:

The Bad:

As the owner of a small business, I have locations in other parts of the U.S. and canada. We all needed to have the same toll free number, just have different extensions...we tried with another VoIP provider and it was awful. We had their service and phones for 9 days. The phones were only operable 1 day out of the 9. 8 x 8 offers a full service business solution with the most cost effective way. The features that they offer are second to none. I would never go back to anyone else again, for our business phones. The customer support here is wonderful. We had a problem with one phone in a satellite office that also has vonage, the tech support walked through every step for an employee to restart everything and plug everything in and provide him with the correct IP address and within a half an hour, he was up and running. We are very very pleased for the decision that we made to come to 8 x 8.

I am so happy that I moved to 8x8 because my service has been great and my telecommunications costs have gone way down. I am a contractor and I love the follow me and other features that I got for free. I signed up and they had a special going for free installation, not really sure what installation was because they just shipped my preprogrammed phones and I plugged them in and everything worked, but it was free. I also got a phone for my house and if no one answers at the office it rings on my home phone. I love it
