Five Star RingCentral

The Good:

The Bad:

When we replaced our phone system for the office we did a lot of research; we talked to a lot of different companies to see what theyre using; we read every review that we could find; and we painfully went through all the various options to check out the applicability for our business. After the research we contacted each vendor to see how responsive they were, so when it was time to choose the decision was incredibly easy. I would like to say that was this was the greatest experience of my life, but I think that marrying my wife and the birth of my daughter would tie for first place in that competition... RingCentral is hands down the winner when it comes to an amazing phone system that can do system wide voice calls, sending and receiving faxes on your phone (yes some of our vendors still use a fax, lol) and group emails, customizable messages, hold music, automated transferring, push a button forwarding, automated attendant, video conferencing, work and project collaboration and 100s of other functions that we are beginning to realize can literally make us even better than the amazing company we already are... With RingCentral you can come up with an idea and one of their level 2 techs will think outside the box and minutes later you have it set up; set up correctly; tested and working. If I could do it over again I wouldve switched to RingCentral 25 years ago and not wasted tens of thousands of dollars To keep antiquated phone services up and running and paying for after hours phone services with attendants who sound like they had a drink in one hand and a cigar in the other. We are a RingCentral fan club and the entire company is exploring the unique business tools that come with RingCentral...

Awesome so far

It has only been two weeks but so far things are excellent. I like that when I receive a voicemail, it is transcribed and sent to my email address. Also, I am an attorney and do not like for everyone to have my cell phone number and be called at all hours of the day and night for free legal advice. RingCentral solves this by having my office telephone number show up when I call from the app. My only complaint was I purchased the least expensive phone they offered because I really don't need all the bells and whistles, and it was too light to stay in the stand when I touched it. Upgraded and am waiting for new one to arrive. I have called support several times and each time I could understand the person who helped me, and they insisted on staying on the phone with me until they had completely walked me through the issue I needed to know how to set up.

I've used RC for four years to serve a medical practice. Everything has gone just fine and according to expectations. I recently needed to replace an on-site PBX at a church (12 stations) and decided RC would be a good option. Six of the 12 stations had to be analog over existing TWP phone wiring - including an elevator phone. There was some problems getting the sales person to understand the application (the five analog stations were really just emergency phones in school classrooms, a kitchen, etc.) and that I didn't need full VoIP features for those stations. Anyway, looking online at the Cisco ATA devices for this application was important - as was asking to speak to an engineer who could answer detailed questions. For example, the RC firmware for the ATAs disables the second phone port - so one ATA per phone is needed. Ordering the equipment through RC simplified things (I did ask them if they could meet Internet pricing for the VVX 150 phones and the ATAs - they came very close). Cutover to the new system was smooth and everything is working as planned. Now, you can probably guess that I worked in this field and knew the right questions to ask, etc. All I'm going to say is that RC delivers a good product but you have to be sure you know your application and can work with (and perhaps through/around) the sales person to get your configurations defined. This is not your parents' telephone system. Price is fair - especially given its reliability and avoidance of on-premise equipment maintenance fees.

Buyer beware of Auto Renew

The Good:

The Bad:

I contracted with #Ring Central for VoIp phone service for my small business in 2013. It went pretty well with #Ring Central for the first few years. I started have technical issues with the #Ring Central phone and had to use the customer service. #Ring Central customer service uses off US shore call centers. It is very difficult to understand the #Ring Central CSR's. Fast forward to 2019. I was fed-up with the #Ring Central customer service so I switched carriers. After porting my number to the new carrier I contacted #Ring Central customer service to cancel. The #Ring Central CSR informed me that I was in a contract and would have to pay $300 to leave. The #Ring Central CSR informed me that I was in an auto renew contract and I missed the grace period to cancel. I contacted a California attorney. I was told that as of July 2018 companies that are located in CA. can no longer auto renew contracts UNLESS they give the customer written notice of the contract renewal. California statuate Effective: July 1, 2018 West's Ann.Cal.Bus. andamp; Prof.Code 17602 17602. Automatic renewal or continuous service offers; prohibited activities; cancellation mechanism; notice of material change in terms; application of requirements (a) It shall be unlawful for any business that makes an automatic renewal offer or continuous service offer to a consumer in this state to do any of the following: (1) Fail to present the automatic renewal offer terms or continuous service offer terms in a clear and conspicuous manner before the subscription or purchasing agreement is fulfilled and in visual proximity, or in the case of an offer conveyed by voice, in temporal proximity, to the request for consent to the offer. If the offer also includes a free gift or trial, the offer shall include a clear and conspicuous explanation of the price that will be charged after the trial ends or the manner in which the subscription or purchasing agreement pricing will change upon conclusion of the trial. (2) Charge the consumer's credit or debit card, or the consumer's account with a third party, for an automatic renewal or continuous service without first obtaining the consumer's affirmative consent to the agreement containing the automatic renewal offer terms or continuous service offer terms, including the terms of an automatic renewal offer or continuous service offer that is made at a promotional or discounted price for a limited period of time. (3) Fail to provide an acknowledgment that includes the automatic renewal offer terms or continuous service offer terms, cancellation policy, and information regarding how to cancel in a manner that is capable of being retained by the consumer. If the automatic renewal offer or continuous service offer includes a free gift or trial, the business shall also disclose in the acknowledgment how to cancel, and allow the consumer to cancel, the automatic renewal or continuous service before the consumer pays for the goods or services. (b) A business that makes an automatic renewal offer or continuous service offer shall provide a toll-free telephone number, electronic mail address, a postal address if the seller directly bills the consumer, or it shall provide another cost-effective, timely, and easy-to-use mechanism for cancellation that shall be described in the acknowledgment specified in paragraph (3) of subdivision (a). (c) In addition to the requirements of subdivision (b), a consumer who accepts an automatic renewal or continuous service offer online shall be allowed to terminate the automatic renewal or continuous service exclusively online, which may include a termination email formatted and provided by the business that a consumer can send to the business without additional information. (d) In the case of a material change in the terms of the automatic renewal or continuous service that has been accepted by a consumer in this state, the business shall provide the consumer with a clear and conspicuous notice of the material change and provide information regarding how to cancel in a manner that is capable of being retained by the consumer. (e) The requirements of this article shall apply only prior to the completion of the initial order for the automatic renewal or continuous service, except as follows: (1) The requirement in paragraph (3) of subdivision (a) may be fulfilled after completion of the initial order. (2) The requirement in subdivision (d) shall be fulfilled prior to implementation of the material change. (f) This section shall become operative on July 1, 2018. After sending the opinion letter and the above statute to #Ring Central customer service, I was informed that they would "waive" the ETF and close my account. I WON!!!!!

AWFUL Service and Inconsistent Technology

Posted: Dec 07, 2018
The Good:

The Bad:

I signed up with Ring Central under a year ago. In that time span, I've had four major outages with phone service and calling for technical support has been awful! They use language lay people can't understand, are terrible with follow-up and then continue to try and "fix" the problem after the issue is resolved. An average phone call to tech support takes me 1-2 hours and I am often incredibly frustrated by their lack of ability to clarify or explain the questions they ask. Most recently, they lost my case file and didn't record any notes and I've had to start over from scratch. I have to assign stars so I've given them one because at least they have an app I can put on my cell phone to use when I'm out of office. If you're a small business, sole proprietorship, or non-profit organization without any technical support, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are impossible to work with!

We bought service from Ring Central and thought it would save money by merging the phones and webinar. It did connect both but the lines turned into horrible. The voice quality was not clear. When I complained about the issue they just ignored. My phone number was added into their voicemail list. Looking for some other company as RingCentral completely disappointed me.

BEWARE! They have non existent customer service. The account managers have no clue how to help. They repeatedly apologize but can never seem to solve a problem. I was billed for a number I did not have or use. To this day I have not been able to have the number canceled or receive a credit for the payments they deducted from my credit card. They advertise HD Voice. I believe that's just the product name they use. I have experienced terrible voice quality. Many times incoming calls are interrupted and you have to wait for the call to reconnect. I usually end up calling from another line. They are way overpriced for the product and service they deliver. Look for other options. I can't wait to move my numbers elsewhere.

RUN, do not walk, away from RingCentral

Posted: Apr 11, 2018
The Good:

The Bad:

I'm finally closing out my year-long nightmare with RingCentral. To cap it off, I'm currently sitting on hold with their porting department for the sixth time in a week because they're not releasing my main business line and my clients have been hearing a busy signal for the last two days. It all started when their sales team tried to lock me into a three-year contract without telling me, and charge me for the whole boat in advance. Things did not improve from there. Reliability was spotty, at best. Their configuration systems are not intuitive in the least. Customer and tech support have been, with rare exception, the most incompetent I have ever seen, next to Office Depot. Every time I had to resort to calling support, I could count on at least half my day being wasted. Not exaggerating--literal hours of my life gone every time I had to call these people. Rarely was my problem solved in one call. I wanted a turn-key solution so I could have a mobile office and didn't have to mess with complicated VOIP stuff. But now that I was forced to look into a more "advanced" solution like Voipo or Voip.ms (I won't say which, to avoid a shadow of bias) I'm kicking myself for not starting out with it. It took way less time to achieve the same setup with my new provider, and I didn't have to spend a single second on hold with service reps who knew even less about VOIP technology than me. And the best part? I'm now paying less than 1/10 of what RingCentral charged me for the same functionality. Spend an afternoon learning about how VOIP works and bypass RingCentral. You will have recouped the investment in avoiding their support lines within a day or two, guaranteed. Avoid this company like the plague.

1- The worst customer service when it gets to billing. I had my 3 lines with contract, they had to do some changes to move me to shared line so they added 2 additional line without me knowing, now they say we can not cancel it because you have a contract, I say we have contract for 3 lines, not 5, but they ignore it and they say we are sorry, this is how our contract is, this is the bigest BS I have ever heared.

Overhaul this company ASAP - RingCentral

The Good:

The Bad:

My business partner wanted to go with this service. I have my reservations, yet since my partner was excited we gave it ago. I was trying to change our credit card for billing. It took five calls to get an actual human. She was nice. She tried to help. Loading in three different credit cards because the system kept telling her our address was wrong. It wasn't until on the third credit card that was to a completely different business, address, and bank that she realized that it was not the cards but the system. At the same time, I get an email that they charged the first card which as the one they said we needed to change. I really feel for those who work there, what a damn nightmare to work in such an inefficient place

Run - RingCentral

Posted: May 08, 2017
The Good:

The Bad:

The product worked ok, but we eventually had to switch because when we needed help it was a nightmare. Must of customer service can read their scripts in English but they can't really work in it. My account manager put me on a better plan that would save me money - it cost more. Security protocols are absurd and sometimes different departments had different answers to the same security question. We had three fax lines and they were unable to recognize it was all one account. And the real nightmare started when we tried to port our numbers to a new provider. They kept refusing the port and refusing to connect us with someone who would help. Meanwhile they disconnected one fax line and changed the email delivery of incoming faxes and confirmations to me. This is a small business, I am finance, HR and IT. I already get a load of emails every day and now I spend half my time distributing other people's faxes. With experience I have become very good at being forceful enough to get almost any disinterested or in competent customer service rep to help me, but with RingCentral it was a waste of effort. Brick Wall level incompetence on the other side. Run, do not walk, away from RingCentral

RingCentral has been the worst provider I have seen in years. We have been hung up on multiple times by their support team, our account manager has not helped us with phone tree issues, we lose calls throughout each day, we also have tried to create tickets on the fact that we can't create tickets to get assistance and have to call in until we get someone on the line to create a ticket on our behalf to get help on an issue. Most of the time the support reps do not even know how to pull up our account or answer a simple question as to why our call are not being recorded. This is by far the worst run company and worst VOIP system out there

Great Features, Serving at a Reasonable Price! - RingCentral

Posted: Nov 22, 2016
The Good:

The Bad:

Our company has been with RingCentral for a little over a year and a half now and we couldn't be happier. Over the past many years we've suffered with the horrible service of the phone company that has monopolized the market; year after year charging us more and more (because they could) and offering very little for the exorbitant amount. With RingCentral we've been able to get out from under the phone company and know exactly what we have to pay for every single month, AND we get a ton of features that we can use to help streamline our business. We've been able to save a lot more money simply because we've been able to consolidate all of those extra service vendors by just using RingCentral. Of course, RingCentral is not perfect... no company is. We've had a couple of complications here and there, but it's never stopped us from being able to handle our business. RingCentral techs and the customer service reps have been there every step of the way and have never let us down

RingCentral is alright, especially for the cost.

Posted: Oct 02, 2016
The Good:

The Bad:

It's less expensive than Metrofax, but not as reliable. Half the time a sent fax doesn't go through. That costs me minutes and tried pages against my total count. Metro fax doesn't do that, but it does cost more. Ring Central integrates with Google Mail, which is the primary reason I have the subscription. I need cohesiveness and compatibility with my work. That being said, Metrofax, the only other service I've used and like a lot, doesn't integrate with Gmail, but does receive in pdf format and can download to any email after logging in and transferring. It's an extra step that RingCentral doesn't require. RingCentral also has other features and allows to be a full virtual office with a business phone, business call features and reception, music for calls on hold, etc. For the cost, it's a decent expenditure. But for my primary use of the Fax, it's not as reliable as other services. That's why Quality is 3 stars only

I've been using RingCentral for about 3 years now - great, inexpensive way to get faxes delivered right to your phone/tablet/desktop. The only reason I ranked Customer Service 4 stars instead of 5 is that I've never had to use it. Their website is comprehensive and instructions for use so easy to understand. There are numerous other features that I'm sure are useful too, but for the few instances when I've needed to fax -- this takes care of it all

RingCentral - voicemail good

Posted: Mar 18, 2016
The Good:

The Bad:

We've been using RingCentral for about five years now, but only for voicemail as our Comcast Business voicemail is inadequate. We answer our phones "live" during the day, and any time a call is not answered a forwarding number passes it to RingCentral. We love getting our voicemails delivered as an MP3 file - you can listen to it, replay it, forward it by email, save it to hard drive, and search your messages based on incoming ph#, date, person, etc. We have the system set to respond slightly differently after hours on the weekday and on the weekends to address our needs. I have not tried RingCenter for VoIP. I know of one person who swears by it, but online reviews are very mixed

If you need call in support, my best recommendation is that you schedule it for a time when you have at least an hour to burn because every time I have needed support, it usually eats an hour block of my schedule. I can't say whether this is due to the level of complexity of the problem, or a lack of training/troubleshooting skills of the service team. Regardless, it would be nice if they could cut this in half

Not Very Innovative

Posted: Jun 22, 2015
The Good:

The Bad:

We have been using RingCentral for about 10 years now. RingCentral and GotVMail were the only major players I could remember at the time. Service with RingCentral has been just barely acceptable over the years... just good enough to prevent me from going through the pain of switching our (2) company phone systems elsewhere. RingCentral has thrown some disruptive updates my way over the years. They used to have a feature that appended the extension number the caller dialed at the end of their caller ID. This feature was removed about 2 years ago, without notice, and all of our employees were very confused for a few days until we reconfigured the system to announce the name of the extension dialed before the employee answers the phone. A later software update that RingCentral performed disabled the call announce on us. Again after a few days of confusion, I ended up re-configuring the inbound caller ID and announcements. This time the feature did not disappear on us, but the RingCentral update just deleted out settings without warning. About a year ago, there was a major bug in the system that prompted me to start exploring other services. We have several mobile employees that use their cell phones instead of desk phones. A neat feature of RingCentral plays a recording when a user answers their phone asking them to press 1 to accept the call. This prevents the cell phone's voicemail from interfering if the user wants to reject the call. Well, for a period of about 3 weeks, this feature stopped working- no matter how long / hard we pressed 1 to accept a call, the system would return and say "I am Sorry I did not hear you" and hang up resulting in many missed calls. RingCentral tried blaming our cell phones, then the carriers... I somehow doubt that 3 different cell phones across two different carriers (ATandT and Verizon) experienced the same glitch at the same time. RingCentral never apologized for the problem, not offered a fix, but the problem did go away so I gave up searching for a new provider. The RingCentral feature set has remained very static over the past 10 years. One key feature I have always wanted is an attended transfer. I also don't like the fact you can't ring an extension for an unlimited amount of time (something I wanted to do for our after-hours support line where extended hold times are common.) I will probably stick with RingCentral for awhile longer. When I started evaluating other solutions, I realized many other hosted PBX solutions lack some of the most fundamental features we have become accustomed to over the years such as "press to accept" and call-announce

Incompetent Tech Support Personnel

Posted: May 31, 2014
The Good:

The Bad:

Ring Central's website advertises 24/7 Customer Support, yet this service isn't available 24/7. WHY? Sounds like 0 ADVERTISING to me. Was on hold yesterday for an hour and ten minutes TOTAL TIME on 5/30/14 trying to resolve a tech issue. The Tier 1 person fumbled for 30 minutes and couldn't resolve the matter. I had to hang up because I had client calls back to back and was already 30 mins+ late for my first call. I COULD NOT make those calls from my Ring Central Softphone because the issue was not resolved. As a result I had to use my cell phone in an area where service was shoddy. VERY unprofessional to say the least. A Ring Central Tier 1 tech told me that a Tier 3 personnel would call me back AS SOON AS ANY WERE AVAILABLE. Waited and waited and NO CALL BACK on Friday. Meanwhile I didn't call back to push on the issue because Ring Central's site says 24/7 Support is available. Ring Central DOES NOT have 24/7 support. Now it's Saturday and I CANNOT make calls out during a day I am 'OPEN FOR BUSINESS.' STRONGLY considering using another company just for the simple fact that they left me hanging. Plain and simple. Their software is BUGGY and there is often a lag time even while punching in numbers on outbound calls. Sometimes I'll enter 3 numbers and have to wait an entire minute to enter SOME of, or all of the remaining numbers. Another waste of my time. Since Ring Central's IPO months ago their service has suffered. This is VERY disappointing espec since I purchased a considerable number of shares through my broker. You go on Ring Central's website and when you post a negative review it gets mixed in with all the other reviews and is not showcased at the top. Only the GOOD reviews are view able at that the top of Ring Central's 'Reviews' page. This is unfortunately pretty typical for companies of this size. Overall the damage has been done. Ring Central left me hanging when I had important business calls that potentially could have cost me big money had I not called from my cell phone and ran interference with my clients. In this business, as with any other, a company is ONLY as good as their WORD. Ring Central DID NOT keep theirs AND are 0ly advertising on their website. They outsource overseas and it is obvious that the folks they employ are not concerned with how much MY TIME is worth. VERY DISAPPOINTING experience

RING CENTRAL IS KILING ME

Posted: Apr 03, 2014
The Good:

The Bad:

ANY call that comes in to my cell phone, or ANY TEXT will automatically drop the call. If I'm on my business line, aka my RING CENTRAL line, the call DROPS. When I called customer service, they said they're aware, and that their engineers are working on it. Well, great, but in the meantime, you look like a fool when your calls drop, your voice mail doesn't go through. It makes you look very very unprofessional. I would be better off going to a rotary phone, this is a MAJOR problem. Your business will suffer for it, not to mention your checkbook. All my cards, letterhead, and advertising have this call dropping joke listed. This company knew about this problem, but took my money anyway. Don't bother with WRONG CENTRAL

Been with them for several months now. I was reading the previous reviews and I have to say I have had nothing but a great experience with them. From the sales person to the implementation department as well as number porting was seamless (We ported over 80+ lines). I did have some set up questions and called in and the support team answered them thoroughly. Again, we had another hosted provider prior and they were nothing but a nightmare. I am glad we found RingCentral and can't say anything but great things

Customer Service Lacking

Posted: Aug 20, 2013
The Good:

The Bad:

I have spent the past 3 months trying to convert from a traditional on-site company phone system over to RingCentral. We have been trying to port 30+ phone numbers and it has been nothing but problems. Although my prior phone company is a pain to work with, so far, all the issues seems to stem around RingCentrals poor customer service and inability to assign a single point of contact for our company to work with. RingCentral seems to be good for a very small company but for an organization with more than 5 or 10 phone lines, I would not recommend them. The personal settings for each user can not be locked by the account owner nor can company setting preferences be applied to all users as a default. Each line must be manually adjusted, one by one. With as many options and that are available, THIS IS A NIGHTMARE! If youre a start-up company youll like the features and quality (as long as you have a fast internet connection) but if youre an existing company looking to get away from an expensive, outdated on-site phone system, look for another option

Poor Service with RingCentral, Dropped Calls, Bad quality, extra charges

Posted: May 24, 2013
The Good:

The Bad:

We have been using RC for just under a year. We have 12 physical phones. I would NOT recommend RC for a small business. Their customer service takes Incredibly long to get through to a person for even a simple billing question. Average customer service call with them has been between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours when we have been trying to add in an analog line, or having issues with dropped calls. Dropped calls have been an on going issue since starting with them. Even when making a call at midnight, when neither call volume nor internet volume is high, I had a call drop. I had one of our employees track how many dropped calls she was having, and it averaged about 10 per week (approximately 15-20% of her calls). We have also had issues with transferring calls within our building. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Calling them takes so long, and much of the time with the sporadic issues, they can't figure out the problem, it isn't worth calling them. We have done all their suggestions including increasing our internet band with and dedicating bandwidth to the phones. This did not fix the problems they were suppose to. It seems like their issues are with the way their system actually handles the calls. I'm writing this review while I have been on hold (31 minutes so far and haven't gotten to speak to a real person yet!) to find out why this mysterious $379 charge started showing up on our bill for "20,000 minute toll free bundle" that we have never heard of nor did we sign up for. We are in the process of switching to a different phone system. Update: I have been writing reviews for the past 54 minutes while I have been on hold trying to talk to someone about this billing charge. They must have started their memorial weekend early (it's 3:19pm on Friday), so I guess I'll give up and try another day to get through to them. Grrrr such a simple question

And even with the migration pains for ~60 lines, RingCentrals service and staff has shined. All issues (so far) have been acknowledged, passed to the appropriate people, and corrected. RingCentral Fax and Customer Service - 5 Stars.

Posted: Dec 12, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

I only use RingCentral for faxing, so I can't address any other service they offer, but I doubt I will ever switch providers. I run a small law office, so being able to send and receive FAXes is critical. I originally signed up with RingCentral because of the price and convenience. Now I will never change. I had lost all of the original documentation and could not even log into my own account (which had never mattered before I had never had problems receiving faxes before). All I knew was the toll free number I had picked (and my name, or course). My problem was that one regular sender of faxes (a Court Coordinator) was not being able to get FAXes to go through. No one else was reporting problems. So I called customer service. The wonderful guy spent nearly two hours on the phone getting me back into my account and showing me how I could fix the problem that was causing problems (an over-full inbox). He was exceptionally courteous, polite, and patient. I had to put him on hold so I could talk to a walk-in client. He waited as if he had nothing else in the world to do. After I felt like the problem was resolved, he promised to call back the next afternoon to be sure it was working properly. And he did what he promised. The whole experience was a dramatic departure from what I expected, and indeed, exceeded all prior experiences with any customer service department. Thanks RingCentral. You really need to give that guy a raise! However, this review site DOES NOT offer an N/A rating. I never use anything with sound, so I really have no clue about the sound quality. DO NOT RELY ON THIS RAVE REVIEW FOR SOUND QUALITY. It just pertains to RingCentral Fax and Customer Service. Barrett, Attorney in Bastrop, Texa

I would be crazy to try putting the important docs I need to fax in the hands of any other company. So far every fax has worked the first time. The Good:

The Bad:

I had my IT team look into a VoIP system about seven months ago after giving into all the advertising I am seeing about it these days, since we are looking to cut costs. I was wary at first about switching to a VoIP system because I had heard horror stories of dropped calls, etc., but that has not been my experience whatsoever with RingCentral thus far. Set up was simple, after an introductory call and an explanation of my needs, we had RingCentral's system up and running in a couple of days. Since then, business has not skipped a beat, and we've been able to cut our phone bill pretty significantly. Looking back on my decision to switch, I am glad I did. This is a no-brainer for people looking to cut business overhead costs

Do your homework - don't sign a contract!

Posted: Aug 29, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

I tried RingCentral because everything I read (go look for yourself) says "month to month" or "NO contracts". Which is 1 until they offer you a deal on your pricing. They give you a couple of bucks off a month and then it's a year contract. Don't do it! It's worth paying the few extra bucks for a few months to figure out if it really works for you. For me, it seemed to initially. The customer support seemed really interested in helping. Unfortunately, wanting to help and being friendly and having the skills to ACTUALLY help are completely different. I should have known there was trouble when the support asked what the default mail client was on a Blackberry - Uh, Blackberry? Also, there is a language barrier. I don't have a problem with people that speak English as their second language, I applaud them. But when I'm on a deadline trying to get something done and I have to repeat myself 5 times because they can't understand me, it's too much to ask. I want support from someone who understands me the first time so I can get my issue addressed. I don't think it's too much to ask. After months of the support calling me to follow up on issues that I had submitted without actually giving me the information on how to fix them - I gave up. They seem to have good intentions and probably have an OK system. But if you don't have all the time in the world to figure it out for yourself, don't expect a lot of help from them

RingCentral Canada - IP Phones

Posted: Jul 27, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

I have used RingCentral for several years, mostly for its advanced call management features for incoming calls. I find those features to be the best of any VoIP service I have looked at. In the last year I have started to use the service for outgoing calls as well, initially using their soft phone application on my laptop. With a good microphone the soft phone application usually works well, but I found that it was dropping out regularly when the laptop was also running other applications. Therefore I recently decided to purchase a RingCentral IP phone. I have been much less satisfied with their service in this area than in others. My complaint with this service is that they cripple some features of the IP phones they sell, especially the display options on the higher end phones. I have a Cisco model SPA525G purchased from RingCentral for some $300. The essential call features of the phone work well and were set up by RingCentral before it was delivered to me. However, a number of features, especially those related to the display (which is quite advanced on this phone), are overridden by settings that are periodically downloaded from Ring Central. Given the price of the phone and the fact that the settings that are overridden are not critical for Ring Central service, I find this very annoying. Annoying enough, in fact, that I cannot recommend the purchase of an IP phone from RingCentral. They also sell IT phone adapters for analog telephones, which only cost $30 or so, and if I were doing it again that's what I would purchase. I am offended that RingCentral chooses to limit features on a phone it sold me at full price, when I am already paying for the service and the feature limitations have nothing to do with the delivery of that service

RingCentral Works

Posted: Jul 13, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

We first heard of RingCentral on the radio a few months ago, and since we were having issues with our old VoIP provider, I decided to do some research and found this site. Most of the reviews were positive, so I gave them a call. The sales team was very professional and had a quote for me within hours. Within the next couple days we had our entire office outfitted with the new RingCentral phone system. Gone are the days where we are dropping calls and losing business almost daily. We've had ringcentral for 2 months now and have had no significant issues. We were most amazed by how many useful features the Ringcentral phone system actually offers, and how easy they are to get set up. If you are coming from a traditional phone service provider, or a VoIP provider you are not happy with, I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised with how ringcentral provides some great features

Hard to cancel, poor call center

Posted: Jul 06, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

I am always suspicious of a company with a bad call center. Particularly a company in the business of telecom. A five minute call to cancel the service turned into 45 minutes of being on hold, being dropped, being sent to voice mail, and finally, when I was able to talk to a person (because I didn't follow their call center instructions) it was explained to me why my experience with their call center was perfectly fine, and, no, the person I was talking to was not going to do anything about it because their call center routing was obviously just fine. Lovely. I won't be using them next time

RingCentral nearly destroyed our business

RingCentral - Everything we need and more

Posted: May 30, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

We are a medium sized law firm that switched over to RingCentral after about a year and a half of intermittently bad phone service with another VoIP provider. Instantly the quality of my work life improved since the headache of our phone system disappeared. Since we switched to RingCentral, our call quality has improved, and our system has always-on reliability, which is more than I can say for my old phone service provider. The one time we did have a minor issue, RingCentral was quick to answer the call, and quick to fix the issue. I originally had heard an ad on the radio for RingCentral about a year ago, and I'm kicking myself for not switching sooner. The features offered by RingCentral far out-do what we had before. Our phone system feels like an advanced, finely-tuned machine now, rather than a slow old dinosaur that never works

RingCentral: Options Are Limitless

I highly recomment RingCentral. The options are limitless with the way you can set up your answering preferences, etc.No matter if you are a smallorlarge business, the setupprovides the ability to handle calls very professionall. The RingCentral staff will take the time to walk you through any issues you may have so you understand to make changes on your own going forward. If you have an unexpected interruption in your computer network, you will loose the ability to use any desktop phones. However, you can still use the RingCentral app on your smartphone to carry on business calls as usual. RingCentral: Full Featured System Yet Easy to Use and Support

Posted: Feb 21, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

Ive been using different RingCentral services for about 2 years now. Ive personally set up about 30 phones (22 Polycoms and 8 Cisco headsets). The setup is straightforward, and the sound quality of the Polycom and Cisco phones is very good, though I personally prefer the Polycom sound quality. I've had a few minor configuration questions and whenever I contacted Ring Central Tech Support, they've assisted me in solving the problem. They are a professional organization. Ive evaluated many different VoIP phone systems, and have personally used six different hosted systems over the past few years. I like RingCentral the best.

RingCentral: Invaluable for Networked Offices

Posted: Feb 14, 2012

The Bad:

We've been using Ring Central and Right Fax for a couple of years and have found it invaluable for our networked offices that include commercial spaces and home offices. The few times I have had issues or questions, I was able to speak with a helpful rep immediately and issue/question was resolved. I believe I even used a chat option, which was also convenient. andnbsp

RingCentral: A Big Help

The Good:

The Bad:

The phone system has been a big help managing our incoming calls. I work in a small but busy office and receive more than 500 calls a month. A large number of calls can be handled by with automated responses (i.e. what are you office hours?, where are you located?). This system has worked well for handling these calls. The staff is a mobile staff, being able to forward calls to staff memeber's personal phone without giving out the number is GREAT!!! I am still learning the full functionality of system. So far I really like

Overall we love the service! The savings is just amazing. The clarity is perfect when making a call. All calls can be tracked on the website under a call log tab....same as faxes...along with any voicemails that may have been received. We like the greeting that is played when a call comes in...along with music for a call that is on hold or beiing transferred between extensions

The Good:

The Bad:

Our business uses Ring Central since we don't have a central office, but work from different locations. Ring Central allows us to provide excellent customer service since we can set up the call forwarding to reach us wherever we happen to be. The features are really helpful such as programming different extensions with different notification options, ring options, forwarding rules, etc. We also love that you can send and receive faxes directly to/from the 800# or you can set up a free local fax #. Re: customer service - we had some questions when we were setting up the fax settings and customer service couldn't have been more knowledgeable or courteous. They answered all our questions. Wewould recommend Ring Central to any business

RingCentral: Highly Recommend

Posted: Feb 07, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

We've been using RingCentral for a little over a year and love them. We only had 1 real issue with them. For a couple weeks we kept having dropped calls and when you're a tech company, it doesn't look so good when we have technical issues during things like sales calls. We troubleshot for a few days not knowing the source and having to deal with the problem. RingCentral blamed our internet company and our internet blamed them. After many phone sessions with RC we found the source, an internet router that wasn't on the recommended list. Even though it turned out to be a simpler problem than we thought, RC covered all their bases and provided great service. I manage the whole business's phone accouts from my administrative company settings and love working with customer service when I need assistance and always get great guidance. I also recently had used the record a call feature for my first time after becoming aware of its existence, and I know all the people on the other side of my call was impressed with the official voice that comes on to know they're being recorded too. After evaluating different VoIP services and then choosing RingCentral and using it for a year, I would highly recommend their VoIP. andnbsp

RingCentral: Quick Support

Posted: Feb 06, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

Our company has been with RingCentral for years, there have been very few occasions when the phone system is down - when it's been a network-wide problem they have worked to fix it quickly; if it's just on our system they help us to work the problem out quickly. Right away when we signed up we were saving lots of money from our previous traditional land-line phone system. We also saved some money instantly by dropping the other electronic Fax companies we had been using to get faxes. RingCentral Fax system isn't perfect, but I remember before signing up with them I had 2 different eFax companies because neither one was reliable enough to go with them individually. Our first IP phone system was through a competitor for about a month, until we got the first bill! They were charging us for minutes we didn't use, and exorbitant prices on faxes that weren't even coming through! It was all based on how many minutes it was taking the fax to come through, not even on how many pages. We couldn't get rid of them fast enough. We haven't tried all the companies out there, but we are very happy with our RingCentral services. Sincerely, Jayhawk Auto Transport In

I was prviously limited by a single phone line for my store. By switching to Ring Central, it is like I have multiple lines since Ring Central hands off the calls to our cell phones. This allows multiple calls coming in with no busy signal. All calls get answered promptly with a high level of professionalism. Great for my small business. Calls now go direct to a tech for better productivity. Automatic change of messages with store hours is great. RingCentral: Professional Appearance

Posted: Feb 02, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

We've used Ring Central for over a year to present a professional appearance on our website, to other businesses and over the phone using a toll-free vanity number and the online account settings. Incoming and outgoing calls are always clear without dropouts or interruptions and we're never out of our visitors reach; between the software and online settings, calls will go wherever we are. The "Call Controller is a favorite because we're tech-heads and it runs on the computer while we work, when a call comes in we can be where the caller needs us, in front of a computer. It also acts as a dialer, answering machine, recorder and many other functions including a mobile version that works on our smart phones. Overall the service has been a wonderful experience, we recommend RingCentral to any business, especially small businesses that need low cost and effective services that can be trusted and relied upon without become a drain on resources or requiring a degree to understand and use - we've never had a problem with RingCentral service or support and will happily remain customers into the future. andnbsp

RingCentral Won Hands Down

Posted: Feb 01, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

Using RingCentral has truly opened up our business model. As both a Real Estate Brokerage and as a Short Sale Negotiating company we love it. In one business we have the Polycom IP phones and the lines are crystal clear. In our alternate business we have no desk phones and have connected everyones cell phone via the RingCentral Extension Manager. The ability to ring to a desk, forward to a cell, then a home number or even more while always centralizing where the voicemail might be left is exceptional. We will never go back after working with RingCentral and this system. Also the mobile phone application as well as the desktop software options are amazing features to be considered when comparing options. RingCentral won hands down. andnbsp

RingCentral: Intuitive and Easy

Posted: Feb 01, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

I have been using RC for a couple of months now and I find it very intuitive and easy to use. Initially I signed up to transfer my toll free number over from ATandT and to get a virtual fax number, that I previously used J2 fax for. The new service costs me one third of what I used to pay for the two features combined! That's a great deal. I also like the pro-active customer support. I found it helpful when RC folks reached out to me as a new client and offered help with the setup or learning new features. My only reservation is the limited reporting available to me. I have multiple lines attached to different divisions within the company and would like to be able to track the number of calls on each line, where they are coming from and their duration from my RC account. So far I have not found that information available anywhere inside the portal. All in all, I think this a great resource for a small business and, potentiall, for a larger company also. I recommend RC to all my clients

RingCentral: Huge savings over traditional PBX

Posted: Feb 01, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

We moved from a standard one number land line to a toll free inbound phone and fax system with 4 separate lines for less than the national carrier was charging us by a mile! The system is easy to manage, but if an issue has you confounded, a quick call to tech support has you up and going in no time flat! The e-fax system works well, but does need to be loosely monitored for failed faxes, but we have no major complaints. I know I haven't fully implemented all that Ring Central can do at this point, but I know when I have time to plug in the additional features we will be just as happy with them as the features we currently use. We would definately recommend Ring Central for any small to medium sized business

RingCentral: More Than Meets Our Needs

Posted: Feb 01, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

We have now had RingCentral for over 2 years and have been very pleased with the service overall. We aren't a large organization, but have appreciated the number of features and flexibility that are available to us through this service. We have found that it does take some time to understand how everything works. I would classify the user interface as being more "PC-like" than "Mac-like". Unless you have a dedicated IT person, expect a learning curve for the first few weeks. I have always had a good experience with Customer Service. I've never had to wait long to speak to someone and they have been knowledgable and courteous. As one review said, expect to spend some time on the phone if you are troubleshooting a problem. RingCentral: Really Happy

The Good:

The Bad:

I am really happy with the service from Ring Central. We had a unique situation of running a real estate office out of two separate locations and needed to have our business line ring at both locations. This is not possible with traditional business phone service. Ring Central was able to accomadate our needs and get us all set up. Their customer service people were great and helped me a lot getting everything set up. We originally ordered desk phones but were limited by being tethered to the desk to use the phone and returned them during the trial period for their adaptor system that works with cordless phones. We've been very happy with the call quality and haven't had any real problems with the service. The cost is comparable to what we were paying for a business line through Cox Communications only we get unlimited long distance in the US and Canada with Ring Central's service and paid extra for long distance with Cox

RingCentral Best Feature Set

Posted: Jan 24, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

We have been with RingCentral since 2008 back when the company was just a one man shop. The owner loved RingCentral back then as he had a toll-free number with auto attendant giving his company a bigger image. He was also able to turn off the business phone at a certain time through schedules ensuring that he did not receive business calls after business hours. The icing on the cake was that he no longer had to give out his personal phone numbers, well just to RingCentral. As the company grew so did the ways in which RingCentral was used. Each remote worker has their own extension which can be monitored for usage to reimburse expenses. Also workers can set their own schedule allowing them to determine when they are available and each location has their own RingCentral phone number with its own schedule. Faxes are included which is great on the few occasions each month when a fax needs to be sent or received, and everyones voicemail goes to their own email. No need for a voicemail email address that then needs to be distributed to each person. The only two features missing are text messaging and text to speech greetings. The text to speech greetings would be great as the available greetings are limited and need to be recorded, something people are reluctant to do. Other than that the service is great and we plan on being with RingCentral for several more years

RingCentral - 5 stars from a happy customer

A few years ago we have spent around $1,000 for the in-house PBX by TalkSwitch. It was a great system at that time, but once we discovered RingCentral (RC) our life changed for the better. The scallable system hasso many "bells and wistles" this review may take forever to write, so I will name just a few: - Flexible call routing based on rules: caller ID routing, incoming line routing, busy/available, hours of operations, department, extention, ring all, etc. - Electronic fax included with any plan: fax to email, fax from email. Fine quality and very reliable service. - Custom music/message on hold for each department. Use what RC offers or upload your own. - Calls can be handled with VOIP provided by RC or transfered to any landline or cell phone. You can travel and still make an impression that you are in your office. - Call que First, we have signed up for the electronic fax service and had it for a year. There was not a single glitch or problem during that time, so we decided to look closely at other things RC offers and end up with a Mobile plan. I called the support for help with setting up the departments and they were able to resolve my issues within a few minutes, being polite and professional. 5 stars for support, RingCentral! andnbsp

RingCentral: Professional and Courteous

Posted: Jan 24, 2012
The Good:

The Bad:

I have been a customer since March of 2010. I started with RingCentral because of the flat cost for an toll-free number. I'm from Ontario and my only other option involved getting an 800 number from Bell and then praying that no one would call since I would be billed per minute. Of course, I WANTED people to call, but I was afraid of what the bill would be. Oh, and in addition to the cost to use the service, I paid a fee each month just to have the service. Ring Central offered me the prospect of having the service for a flat fee that was about the same as I was paying Bell without also having to pay a usage fee. In addition to this, I spoke with Ring Central reps who were willing to go thru contortions to allow me to use the US service (Ring Central was not in Canada yet) even though I was Canadian. Over the time I've been with Ring Central I've grown very fond of the online system that allows me to track calls etc and modify my answering rules on a whim. I've even added a second line and been able to silence the phone after 9pm! Have there been hiccups along the way? Sure. In each case Ring Central was professional and courteous. If I sound like quite the fanboy it's because although I know there have been issues (very few), I don't remember specifics, but I DO remember being happy with the outcomes. Before Ring Central, I'd been with Bell, Rogers (land line) (local to Canada), and Vonage (VOIP) in Canada and finally Bell for 800 service. andnbsp

RingCentral: Bad Outweighs Good

The Bad:

RingCentral's devices and configuringare easy to set up, whether you have 1 phone or 50 phones. Initially, when reseraching VOIP providers for our business RingCentral was hands down the best in the industry for Service, Features, Customer Service, Price etc. But once we becamea customer, issues started to arise from the moment we started implementing the new phone system. After being a customer for 12 months now, RingCentral has had2 network outages=no phones, no faxes, no business for our company. Customer Service is almost non-existent once you have become a customer. Long hold times, leave messages no one calls back. Account Manager(s) do not respond to email/phone callsunless you threaten to cancel service. Think this company is growingfaster than they know what to do with themselves.Long story short, the bad outweighs the good unfortunately

I already had thought about how I really needed to upgrade to a professional phone service / set up, and with some of the recent changes in the campaigns I've been working - it was just time. In the past I've tried other ways of doing this, but in the end I needed a service where I could make both outgoing calls and receive incoming calls from the same phone line.(With the other Virtual office services, it's really incoming calls only - and then when you dial out, you're dialing from your land line phone service or from your cell with THAT Caller ID. I don't like this because then everybody gets my personal numbers. And it's not professional, because people think I'm not in my office). And the other feature I needed was unlimited calling. I wanted a service that would offer this at a reasonable price too. I remembered RC because the last Company I worked for had it. But then they were a huge office, and I didn't thinkRC wouldhave something with all these features and benefits for a single user, but I was wrong! So, now I've been with them for just under 30 daysand I couldn't be happier! And honestly, even if I went back to working in the office and had an inside line - no way would I be willing to give up my RC service! It has been a God sent and perfect for my business needs! Being I need to grow and brand my business, having a "corporate, toll free number and phone system" is a must and now I can. RC also allows you to take your numbers with you if you do decide to change phone services later. And you can do this at no charge and there are no stipulations. These are MY company phone numbers now and I'm going to keep them. As far as the plan itself - this phone set up gives a polished, established business presentation and I just love it! I use the Call Controller on my desktop when I'm in the office and I have the RC App on my phone for when I'm out. The App features are just awesome - I could literally be on the Moon and be fully operational in my office and callers get a consistent message ofmy presence in office (available to them). The other feature I love about the phone App is thatI can separate personal calls from business call too this way (again-in both incoming and outgoing calls). Just brilliant! They alsoGrandfathered me into the unlimited toll free calling plan, so for one price Ican work on thephoneall month long and never have to worry about my bill goingup!! How nice is that? Especially for a "small business" professional like myself.I could also expand as much as I wanted or just be a one man operation and thisis just a perfect fit! I'm SOLD and highly recommend looking into it! Keep up the good work, Ring Central

RingCentral: Too complicated for my office manager

Posted: May 31, 2011
The Good:

The Bad:

Too complicated for my office manager. I've spend FAR FAR too many hours on the service line with them due to errors and settings that somehow revert back to former settings - resulting in poorly routed calls. Definitely have LOST revenue because of ring central.Wouldn't recommend unless have a LOT of time to manage to it

Overall we are very happy - RingCentral Review

Posted: Oct 21, 2010
The Good:

The Bad:

Overall we are very happy with the service offerings of Ring Central. Their plans are competitive in price and the service offers many custom-selectable bells and whistles that will give your company a polished and professional presentation to your customers. The phone system is easy to configure and has many options like hold music, dial by name directory, call routing, and a "Call Controller" feature allowing you to completely manage all incoming and outgoing calls and all extensions directly from a one or more computers. Call quality is superb and is comparable to using a land-line phone system. It was simple for our company to set up our Ring Central phone system and it is easy for us to make on-demand changes when required. The service is custom tailored to fit your company's needs and system modifications/updates are easily made by us without having prior experience or system training. System start-up costs are minimized for each system extension can be dedicated to a VOIP phone, or forwarded to an existing landline, mobile number, and even to a 3rd party VOIP number. You can mix and match the configuration for each extension and customize the call forwarding for each extension on a case by case basis. The fax service is exceptional and is integrated with standard email. Incoming faxes are received in your emails inbox and sending faxes can be completed quickly by sending an email with attachment, without the need of logging into your Ring Central account. I read some of the reviews posted by other users and in all honesty, I have never once experienced an issue when I contacted Ring Central customer service or their technical support team. The support team speaks fluent English and have been able to professionally, quickly, and completely resolve the support needs experienced by my company. On the downside, there have been two network outages since we began using Ring Central in April-2010. One of the two outages, effecting all 800 numbers, lasted approximately 40 minutes. We were not given the outage's root cause analysis and these two outages did impact our business. The system has been stable for the past four months and as a precaution, we did put in place an alternate method for our customers to reach us. Another issue which Ring Central has not been able to resolve is the delay experienced with large internet fax transmittals. Multi-page faxes exceeding 5 pages can take as long as 15 minutes to be sent and/or received by our customers. It is my company's understanding that this delay is an inherent trouble when using the internet with IP fax and the delay is caused simply by the large amount of data being transmitted with multi-page fax transmittal. All IP fax transmittal service providers have the same problem and it not a unique problem to just Ring Central. In summary we are very happy with the service we receive from Ring Central and we would recommend this service to anyone looking for a VOIP and IP Fax service provider. Regarding reliability, it is a stable platform for the majority of time. We do not experience intermittent issues or problems that cannot be duplicated and resolved. Overall, this is an excellent value and with the 30 day free trial, I recommend anyone looking for a VOIP and IP Fax service provider to try Ring Central. Try out the service, fax, and customer support while there is no obligation. You will be glad you did

RingCentral - VoIP customer review

The Good:

The Bad:

RingCentral is definitely a great buy. It brings to your finger tips not only a full-size virtual PBX, but also offers a huge number of features plus fax receiving and sending facilities. It is simple to use and the best of all, it offers you a month to test it and see whether it suits you or not. I did notice that RingCentral is working on improving their Customer Service which will be wonderful. It's not lacking though there is always room for improvement

RingCentral: glitchy system

Posted: Jul 08, 2010
The Good:

The Bad:

I chose RingCentral because they have the best features for the money. Their system is relatively robust, easy to use, and the sound quality is decent. However, their system is also very glitchy. Features in the system, such as department dialing, will stop working without warning and then start again. New glitches seem to appear randomly.Their foreign based customer service is terrible. They are slow, unknowledgable, and hard to understand. You'll be on hold for hours to resolve a simple issue that appeared from no where. The system hasalso completely crashed twice in the past three months, although for onlyshort periods of time. Beware!! You get what you pay for. I'mswitching to a provider with US based tech support, even if it costs more

RingCentral Voip Service Review

Posted: Mar 26, 2010
The Good:

The Bad:

We have had excellent service from Ring Central from the get-go. Our phones arrived on time, and after going through the setup process, we plugged them in and things worked fine. The only time we have experienced call quality problems was when a PC on our network was infected with spyware and was flooding our LAN. I have to commend Ring Central's Support Team on helping us diagnose and resolve this problem. GREAT JOB

I GOT SEUP WITHVOIP AND USED MY OWN PHONES THAT I BOUGHT OFF OF EBAY. THEY WERE INEXPENSIVE AND WORK FINE WITH THERING CENTRAL SERVICE. WHAT IMPRESSED ME THE MOST ABOUT THIS COMPANY IS THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT DEPARTMENT. THEY ARE PATIENT, SMART, FRIENDLY, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SPEAK ENGLISH. SO MANY OF THE COMPANIES THESE DAYS HAVE THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT COMING OUT OF INDIA OR OTHER FOREIGN COUNTRIES AND THE LANGUAGE SEEMS TO BE A BARRIER FOR THEM. THIS IS MY FIRST BUSINESS AND THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE USED VOIP PHONES. I CAN ALREADY SEE THE MONEY THAT I AM SAVINGBY USINE RING CENTRAL.HECK, THIS IS THE NEXT BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!

RingCentral leading VoIP Techonology

Posted: Mar 21, 2010
The Good:

The Bad:

RingCentral is a very good company with great sector leading VoIP Techonology. I own two numbers and use one in the US and one in Istanbul. Both numbers have worked flawlessly and have had superb sound quality. If you are willing to prepay, you can get full service and unlimited minutes for roughly $18 per month including taxes. It's a darn good value for what Verizon was charging me per month with less than half of the options that I have with RingCentral

RingCentral Best Business Voip Solution

Posted: Mar 19, 2010
The Good:

The Bad:

If you are contemplating entering into a Business Voip System, you need to talk to the folks at RingCentral. We as a company did our research on all of the companies in the marketplace offering "Business Class Voip. Truly, there was nobody that matched RingCentral's knowledge base, customer service, and attention to detail. I would recommend them to any business looking for an alternative to purchasing a conventional phone system and outputting thousands of dollars to procure, upgrade, or be TRAPPED in one

The Good:

The Bad:

Our experience with Ring Central was excellent from the start. Our salesperson was informed and responsive, our implementation person was experienced and spot on and the service and features were everything that we had hoped for. We operate a 40 seat customer service center and the features and reporting that Ring Central provides us is heads and shoulders above other providers that we have tried. We are paying a tiny bit more but it is well worth it
