¬¬New IGW Entrants to face high competition, will need to review roll out strategy, says REVE Systems

In the recent years, the Telecommunication sector in Bangladesh has seen a drastic change. The public and government sectors incentives have helped this sector to expand rapidly. This change can be seen by the move of government to grant licences to 25 more IGWs in Bangladesh. The nation earlier had only four IGW operators namely- BTCL (Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited), Bangla Trac Communications Limited, Mir Telecom and Novotel Limited. However, the scenario has changed and soon we will see new IGW operators taking their places in the Telecommunication sector.
This move of adding new IGWs on the part of Bangladesh government will compel IGW operators to re-work on their strategies. Every day, around 60 million of international calls are made to and from Bangladesh, which were till now managed by four IGW operators. However, now with the changed scenario, the 60 million will get divided into many IGW operators, leaving each with very less share. This will pressurize IGW operators to optimize their investment and plan out different strategy for customer base. Looking at the optimized investment, new IGW operators will now target IP carriers. They will look forward to lock IP carriers with local & international support, also who can offer competitive prices.
In this massive competition of IGW operators, the one who will roll-out its operations first, will surely have an edge over others in the Telecommunication sector. Also, building relationships with IP carriers will help new IGW operators in the long run.
