5 June 2009

[Singapore - 5 June 2009] Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that it has been named as Asia Pacific"s 2009 Wireless Infrastructure Vendor of the Year, Broadband Equipment Vendor of the Year, and Vendor of the Year by Frost & Sullivan for its exceptional business performance for the year 2008. Huawei is the only company to have received three awards at the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards.

Frost & Sullivan Senior Industry Analyst M. Kumaresan said: "Huawei Technologies has been at the forefront of the wireless and fixed telecom equipment industry with cutting-edge products and extended emphasis on R&D. This is evident from some of the products that the firm introduced in 2008 in Asia Pacific, namely the Single RAN technology, co-platform products and an emphasis on IP-related solutions. The awards are a testament to Huawei"s leadership in the region as an end-to-end vendor offering next-generation wireless and wireline services and solutions to its customers."

Commenting on the awards, Mr. Wan Biao, President of Huawei Wireless product line, said: "We are very please with this recognition of our contribution to the development of the industry. Our success is driven, in large part, by our ability to respond quickly in meeting our customers' business challenges with technology solutions that integrate innovation, quality, and value. Our goal is to provide universal and best mobile broadband service and create maximum value for our customers."

For the wireless sector, Huawei"s GSM recorded deployment of more than 3.4 million TRXs worldwide as of first quarter of 2009, winning more than 139 UMTS/HSPA commercial contracts. Of that, 116 contracts were for HSPA networks. In Asia Pacific, 2008 marked a defining year for Huawei as it had successfully expanded its presence both in terms of market breadth and depth across the region. Huawei won most of the new wireless contracts awarded in Asia Pacific, in key markets such as India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore, serving Asia Pacific"s leading operators including StarHub and M1 in Singapore, DiGi in Malaysia, DTAC in Thailand, EMOBILE in Japan, BSNL, TATA and Reliance in India, Telkomsel in Indonesia, Viettel in Vietnam and China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom in China. Huawei built Asia-Pacific's First HSPA+ network for Singapore"s StarHub, and deployed Southeast Asia's Largest 2.5GHz WiMAX Network for Philippine"s Globe Telecom.

In the broadband network field, Huawei offers comprehensive broadband solutions including DSL and optical access solutions. In 2008, Huawei ranked NO.1 in global DSL market and had shipped over 188 million copper access lines worldwide. As the leader in the IP and optical access age, Huawei has secured the most commercial-use projects for the world"s top operators including Telefonica, Deutsche, and China Telecom, etc. It has constructed the largest GPON FTTH and GPON FTTB networks for commercial use, and the first FTTx mobile bearer network, and thus Huawei enjoys rich FTTx construction experience.
