Alaris Labs, a vendor of solutions for telecom carriers, announced a new version of its inVoice billing and routing system. The new release now includes enhanced rate management functionality and a new step in SMS billing development.

One of the distinctive features of the Alaris inVoice system has always been a set of fully-functional rate management tools. In the 3.2.0 release these features have been enhanced by a few new options. Particularly, rate import module is now able to accept rate files via email. The rate import module downloads new rate notifications from partners from a pre-defined mail inbox and the files attached to mail messages appear in the web interface of the system. The company rate manager now only needs to make few mouse clicks to apply the new rates to respective products. Another useful enhancement is the ability to differentiate between international and US domestic products in rate import templates (previously it was one list of templates).

One of the most important rate management tools is the rates generation utility. Alaris inVoice system gives the system owner the tool to generate new rates within a few minutes. The system allows to identify the call cost and the desired margin, both being setup in a very flexible way. With the new release this tool dramatically increases its operation rate (it now takes 2-3 minutes to generate a typical rate plan vs. 20-30 minutes in previous versions), an option to detail vendors chosen for the call cost calculation is now available, as well as the ability to generate US domestic rates.

Another useful application of Alaris inVoice is its SMS billing functionality. In the new release the process of new partner equipment setup is significantly simplified. Previously the system owner had to setup the equipment records twice: on the switching unit and on the billing unit. Now the configuration control is in one single interface of the billing system. In real world some carriers treat the same e.164 prefix as belonging to different e.212/e.214 codes. In the new release Alaris inVoice is able to process incoming and outgoing legs of the SMS attempt independently, thus, providing additional flexibility to the accuracy of the billing of the SMS call legs. The new version also includes sms re-rating functionality.

In total the new 3.2.0 version includes more than 60 enhancements and more than 20 bug fixes. The new release is available to the clients from March 20, 2013.
