Alaris Labs, a vendor of topline telecom solutions, broadens analytical scope of rate processing and increases its speed in the current release of its flagship product — Alaris inVoice, a comprehensive billing and routing system. Rate offers are now analysed in a matter of a few minutes facilitating and accelerating decision-making process when selecting new partners for particular routs.

VoIP-rate analysis tool addresses two key business problems providing telecom carriers with comprehensive understanding of potential profitability incurred by including new vendors into their network and accurate evaluation of possibilities to hit client rate targets. A list of available operators arranged by minute cost increase is generated for each compared rout. Top position in this list, implying least expensive rate offers, proves feasibility of concluding an agreement with the new vendor. Since comparison is made for all the routs it is essentially easy to assess which of them are most favourably rated by the operator, for instance, for which routs he makes into the top three positions. Moreover, it is possible to generate a forecast of traffic volumes to be forwarded to the new vendor and thus estimate the implied margin. Evaluation of client targets is carried out in reverse — the further a client is positioned in the list the larger share of currently available vendors would comply with the specified rate requirements.

Possibility to limit the number of vendors to be included into comparison is yet another valuable feature of the system. Restriction criteria, in particular, might include traffic volumes for a certain rout or specific type of services (for instance, premium package). Application of such limitations confines comparison to vendors with long-established presence in the market providing the required quality of service.

Flexibility of rate analysis engine is further enhanced by some additional options. Comparison might be restricted to items with complete dial code match, or might depend on the code length. It might also be based on rates effective for the specified date, including dates in the future, which allows predicting changes in rate prices and vendor positions for the coming several days.
