MobileMonday celebrates 10 years of collaboration, community, and innovation with the new chapter launch in Karachi, Pakistan. With Karachi becoming its 106th chapter, MobileMonday is now active in all continents. Karachi mobile community will join the worldwide group of mobile movers and shakers under the direction of Rehan Allahwala, CEO of Super Technologies and inventor of DIDX as well as other telecom, mobile, social media and social networking innovations.

The Pakistan telecom sector is opening up with new possibilities and opportunities. After the de-regulation of its telecom and mobile sectors in 2003 - 2004, 14 long distance and international licenses were awarded with another 38 fixed local loop licenses and 17 wireless local loop licenses. In 2005, the Pakistan Telecom Sector was the first country in South Asia to successfully implement Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

As of late 2008, there were 90.5 million mobile phone subscribers in Pakistan according to the annual Pakistan Telecom Authority report. In 2007/08 the Pakistan telecom sector totalled $1,438 million USD Foreign Direct investment, which counts 27 percent of total FDI (foreign direct investment) for Pakistan.

Rehan presented in the Peer Awards for the base of pyramid category during the Summit. The MobileMonday 10th Anniversary Summit takes place in Helsinki and Tallinn from 27th-29th September 2010.

Other MobileMonday launches before the end of 2010 will include Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Cairo, Egypt, and Ahmedabad, India.
