PITTSBURGH, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/07/11 -- Voxigo Telecommunications today announced the release of its free unified mobile VoIP and social networking application for Apple's mobile devices. The application, which allows users to make free calls to other users, is now available on the Apple app store and is compatible with the popular iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.

Calls made using Voxigo are seamlessly connected via the user's Wi-Fi or 3G data connection. Voxigo also provides its unique CallThrough service in more than 53 countries, automatically selecting in-country access numbers to route out-of-network long distance calls at no additional charge. In addition to offering its free calling service between Voxigo users, the company also offers an out of network calling service with rates starting as low as one cent per minute.

"Voxigo continues to develop and enhance its mobile VoIP application," said Voxigo Director of Strategy Shaun Jackson. "We are very excited with this release, coming on the heels of our Android release late last year. Our application is designed for use with the least strain on the user's smartphone thereby saving resources and preserving battery life." Jackson said Voxigo is easy to use and offers functionality that competitors do not.

"New users automatically have their phone book contacts integrated into the application with auto identification of all contacts currently using Voxigo," Jackson said. "Calls to these users are always free. Skype, Fring or Truphone do not offer this functionality." In addition to offering a low cost SMS service, the company plans to launch a push notification service in the coming weeks. The service, which will launch on both Apple and Android supported devices, will alert users of incoming calls, SMS and Chat requests even when they are offline. Users are currently able to connect with friends on Facebook and Skype as well as Twitter and many other instant messaging gateways.
