Skype made a step forward making company’s video chat service ubiquitous for different platforms and devices thanks to adoption of the H.264 format for video on iOS devices. Peter Parkes, Skype Blogger-in-Chief, has stated in Skype’s blog that change will offer Skype’s iPhone users the possibility to chat with friends on TVs and other devices.
Skype extends its influence beyond PC and widens the quantity of devices clients can use Skype video chat service on. From the beginning 2010, Skype has working out the possibilities to empower customers to connect web cams to Internet-connected TVs from such a manufacturing companies like Panasonic and Samsung, offering the service to users in their living rooms.
Skype intends to take a dominant position on the mobile market, introducing an updated iOS application enabling iPhone owners to deploy devices’ forward-facing cameras for video chatting.
