19 January 2012

Major ISPs, web companies and home networking equipment manufacturers around the world are uniting to permanently enable IPv6 for products and services by 6 June 2012.
World IPv6 Launch is organized by the Internet Society; it represents a key milestone in the global deployment of IPv6. IPv6 represents a platform for economic development and innovation and it is critical to the Internet's growth.
ISPs that take part in World IPv6 Launch will enable IPv6 for users so that no less than 1% of wireline residential subscribers who visit participating websites will use IPv6 by 6 June 2012. Major ISPs, including AT&T, Internode, Comcast, Free Telecom, KDDI, XS4ALL, and Time Warner Cable, have committed that “IPv6 will be available automatically as the normal course of business for a significant portion of their subscribers.”
Home networking equipment manufacturers, including Cisco and D-Link, will enable IPv6 by default via the range of home router products by 6 June 2012.
