28 January 2012

International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICCS), a Deutsche Telekom's wholesale unit, has announced that it signed an agreement Lattlecom, a Latvian wireline provider, to build a new multi-country fiber network.
The new Baltic Telecommunications Highway network is designed to support the increasing Internet traffic requirements between Western Europe, particularly Russia and the Baltic States. According to the project, the new network will support transmission speeds up to 10 Gbps and low latency.
The senior VP of Deutsche Telecom ICCS said, "The Baltic states as well as Russia have witnessed a substantial surge in demand for network connectivity, and through the Baltic Highway we will jointly provide enhanced connectivity for the region."
Besides their own countries, Lattlecom and Deutsche Telekom ICSS will build complementary network facilities in Poland and Lithuania.
