2 February 2012

Tata Communications, along with nine telecom leaders, have officially announced launching the Global Meeting Alliance that represents an open ecosystem of major telecom providers “that have aligned to interconnect their respective business video communities.”
Among the members of newly launched Global Meeting Alliance there are Sprint, Glowpoint and TELUS in North America, Telstra in Australia, Safaricom in Africa, Etisalat, Qtel and Mobily in the Middle East, and Neotel in South Africa.
The launch represents the largest functioning collaboration between service providers in business video services.
The Global Meeting Alliance enables service providers to connect to institutions and enterprises on all major continents, following a business model similar to the airline alliance networks.
With Tata Communications’ inter-carrier agreements, consumers of the Global Meeting Alliance members will receive access to an international Telepresence network of third party video endpoints and to the largest public Telepresence room network that consists of 40 public Telepresence suites across 22 countries.
Additionally, the community will be involved in a collaborative approach to answer shared-industry challenges in order to make business video available globally, affordable and simple to connect.
